As for Gov. Palin, I think it might be too much to ask for a total meltdown Thursday night. Do we deserve that much free entertainment?
Team McCain has done a lousy job of building up her confidence. I'm close to feeling sorry for the woman.
I'm glad that folks in the states are finally waking up to the cartoonish inadequacy that have plagued the Republican candidacy for years. The "Cowboy Politics" Americans are known for are becoming outdated, especially now that US economic and military supremacy are on the verge of collapse. Actual knowledge and pro-activeness on the truely critical issues (as opposed to choice and guns) are becoming more important.
When the people get their priorities straight, the politics will follow.
Well Run, it's more about how THIS administration is not or HAS not upheld the true tenets of boilerplate conservatism-i.e. small government, balanced budgeting, low taxation and fiscal prudence. I still believe that more folks of color SHOULD pursue the Republican party for the purpose of political leverage as well as to debunk notions of a stereotypical monolith. But never underestimate the Republicans...the expectations are so low for Palin that she may surprise us....maybe. And Undercover, I thought that Rock's appearance on the Negro Channel was quite telling...funny how everyone on that show is so clueless to their complicity in the minstrel machine.
I know my comment is a week late, but I'm intrigued by the idea of Will Smith playing Captain America. When I first heard the idea, I kinda shrugged it off, thinking that Stan Lee would only be following actors like Morgan Freeman and Dennis Haysbert is portraying black American men in positions of power. But with an Obama presidency, these kinds of roles could no longer be dismissed as pure fantasy. If anything, it would only reaffirm what we already know, in the words of Richard Wright, that black people are the "metaphor of America." I think that realization would hit people pretty hard. I know many fans were disappointed with Kyle Baker's "Truth," but at least it got them thinking, right?
Having said all that, I'd love it if they found a black actor besides Will Smith! Does he have to be in everything!?!
