The Humble Housewife

Hey Deb,

These look great! I just made some myself the other night using tuna! Worked out nice if of course you like tuna.

Love the kitchen tips below aswell btw!

D x

Gravatar I'm going to have to try this one!!

Gravatar I love salmon fish cakes haven't made them for simply ages~ seeing this might prompt me but it will have to be tinned salmon as I have a few tins in my store that need using.

Gravatar loving the new picture!

Gravatar Thanks Donal - Yep would work well with any fish really!

Frannie - Good one for growing boys!

Chris - Tinned stuff is full of goodness, I believe because of the bones.

Thanks Manuel - you're too kind - ever the gentleman!

Gravatar I used to

Gravatar They look really nice! Will give them a go!

Gravatar Deborah - this is how I sneak salmon into dinner for my husband! You are the second person this week who has blogged about devious ways to feed their kids good things. The one recipe was for a Indian spinach and potato cakes. I found you through a random Google search for a recipe that would use the 3 ingredients I have left in my fridge! What a lovely, simple and practical blog you have. Most useful for our every day, non Indian meals.

Gravatar If you use a different type of fish, do you need to change the fish/potato ratio?

Gravatar Victoria- Think some of your comment is missing?

Thanks Sarah - do!

Mallika - Welcome and thank you!

Maggie - Welcome! I wouldn't worry about the potato, but if the fish you use is particularly watery ir oily I would add in some more breadcrumbs!

Gravatar Damn, lol. The interweb seems to have eaten my comment. I was just saying that I used to

Gravatar Ahh, it did it again! Ok, last try. I used to love eating anything from the sea, but that it's great to see young budding veg*ns. Hope they don't drive you too mad!

Gravatar I followed your link here from Frannie's.

I am going to try these. We had salmon patties planned for tomorrow evening, but I might try these instead!

Gravatar Victoria - Ah no, they're fine. I used to be vegetarian, so I can figure it out I'm sure... Or just figure out a way to get healthy sausage!

Welcome Beckie - let me know how you get on!

Gravatar Hi deb, Andraz from Zemanta here.

Seen your remark on twitter and would like to investigate if we can fix this issue, but couldn't find your email.

can you send me a mail?

bye
andraz

Gravatar My mother made salmon patties weekly throughout my childhood. I grew to hate them, but now I love them.

Gravatar Who wouldn't love these?

Gravatar Thank you for your kind words on my blog...
I'm glad to have found yours and am looking forward to trying some of your recipes.
God bless!!

Gravatar Hi Deb, love your site. We eat a lot of salmon in our house, then I use the leftovers for salmon cakes YUM!!

Gravatar LOVE salmon cakes, and I think it's the only thing I USE canned salmon for.
Great looking recipes, hope all is going well!

Gravatar How do you do.
I hope to see blog.
Please link to this site.

Gravatar These look fab.

My daughters are the same with the "But there's "bits" in it" pallaver. Last week I pureed some vegetables on the suggestion of a cook-book meant to sneak veggies into your kids (one girl will hoover up her veggies, the other will barely touch them). I've been adding pureed carrot and squash to mashed potatoes and soups adn spaghetti sauce and so far so good! She hasn't twigged!

Gravatar Ooh Sam - Is that the Seinfeld woman book? Have heard some about it, but didn't buy into it. Would love to hear good feedback!

Lisa- I think it's such a good use for the more healthy canned stuff!

Barb- Thank you!

Welcome Sherry and MaryAnn! Thank you!

Gravatar Vegetarain? There must be something in the air.

Those salmon fishcakes look divine.

Gravatar Again with the bits! These look gorgeous - I'd like a big pile of them and a bowl of chilli sauce please!!

Gravatar I adore, just adore your blog, and the food is fantastic. I hope I am not out of line by saying, here is a good little tip for fonts.
Press alt and 0189 = ½
Alt and 0188 = ¼
Alt and 0190 = ¾

Gravatar Beccy - So it's not just me then? *SIGH*

EM - Oooh... didn't think of that! Next time!

Samantha - Welcome! Wish it were so simple. With an EU keyboard and blogger - not a chance!

Gravatar I love salmon cakes. I must say that I adore you and your blog. :D

Gravatar I have nightmares about my mom's salmon cakes (though she as a great cook) because she made hers with canned salmon that always had those mealy little bones, but your version with fresh salmon looks really delicious. We normally have meatless Fridays (holdover from my husband's Catholic upbringing) and this with a green salad would make a wonderful Friday supper.

Gravatar Thanks Junebug! Haven't "seen" you around in awhile... glad you're still here!

Hi Deborah - welcome! Thank you! I agree... great supper indeed!

Gravatar Gorgeous. I love salmon, it's such a fabulous fish, especially wild salmon.
