The salad looks yummy, and I'll have to try baked oatmeal!
As far as the turkey, you'll see that I said to get WAY more than you think you'll need, because the leftovers are almost as important (but you already know that, since you lived here!)
Glad you appreciate my seal of approval!
(I hope your m-i-l arrives to you, and home safely. Enjoy a lovely visit!)

Why 20 lbs of course! Just kidding. But, I usually get about a pound per person, because, like Lisa said, the leftovers are crucial! I say 13 lbs at least.

I laughed so hard at your Dora's Enchiladas, because my kids will only eat Garfield's Lasagna. Little stinkers! All your meals look absolutely delicious--I'll definitely be stalking your blog for ideas. Have a great week & a happy Thanksgiving!

You gotta have loads of leftover turkey.. for the sandwiches, curry, salad, more sandwiches, pie... We like to call it the Turkey Saga!!

Thanks for the advice ladies! I told the butcher 15 pounds. He said it will be no smaller, but might be bigger!! Have planned the menu for next week. Turkey pot pie on Friday with turkey sandwiches for lunch! Something tells me there'll be turkey hash for breakfast too!
Nothing like a good tryptophan buzz to get you through the weekend!

Nice menu. I've never had baked oatmeal; I'll have to try it. And I especially like the menu for Wednesday & Thursday.

Ten people? Two small turkeys. The smaller turkeys are more flavorful, cook faster, yield twice as much white meat, leftovers are stored more easily, and there are more bones for stock/soup. If you are so inclined, you can prepare them differently
(for instance, stuff one with traditional stuffing, and simply put fruit and onion in the other.) I use Michael Cierello's method, which can be found online if you are interested. My turkeys are always a big success with my large family since I started doing it his way.
I LOVE your site, and you have set me off on new culinary adventures many times. Thank you!

Thanks Kristen and Jerri! Great idea Judith... too bad these little Irish ovens would never allow it. Have enough trouble getting one in! Glad you enjoy the blog and thanks for commenting!
