Ah, deviled eggs, the ever-present American picnic food! It's a stereo-type here, that us WASPs can't have a gathering without using a ton of mayonaise. Stereotypes always start from a bit of truth, and this one sure does! Nothing reminds me more of growing up than deviled eggs. I don't care for them anymore, but I might if they actually had a flavor other than mayo and egg, like these !

You could also suggest buying an apron for the man in your life rather then lumping all the cookery work on the ladies!

J - Did you SEE the aprons? I doubt even the gayest of men would wear one! Definitely never heard of egg log. Just Yule log. Will have to look that up!

Devilled eggs! Haven't seen those in years - they were always a must have at parties back home but I don't think I have ever seen them in Ireland.

Another Italian cookbook you might enjoy is 'Food and Memories of Abruzzo: The Pastoral Land' written by Anna Teresa Callen. It is a regional cookbook but has some wonderful (and simple) recipes in it.
