It snowed here yesterday, and now the school's are delayed two hours.
You are so right, the first one is nice, then it's just something else to have to clean!

I love cocoa or hot chocolate, my favourite hot choc trick is to make a paste with the powder first, you can do this with milk of course but I make the paste with Cointreau and then pour my hot milk in over that, it tastes like terry's chocolate orange - yummmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Maz... stop! I think the Grand Marnier would be similar just more expensive. Will have to try that for the hubby - he loves orange liqueurs!
Lisa - That's exactly right. Bleh!

Glad you liked the rolls (almost, except for the baking powder issue). I haven't had that problem, I wonder if baking powders might differ? or maybe freshness too? Anyway I'll definitely keep my mind open to the idea of less baking powder so thanks for sharing the thoughts ...

I had a peppermint hot chocolate today - lol! Starbucks got the better of me with their darn holiday decorations lol!
I am making that soup tomorrow for sure - I'll just turn the air away down and put a jumper on and make it feel like it's actually winter - vs the unseasonable 80+ degrees we're dealing with here - grr!

I would take your cold remedy even if I did not have a cold. It looks good.

This post is perfect. I had the hot chocolate last night to soothe a sore throat which sent me into a coma of a sleep - feel so much better today!
Also I'm really not in the mood for shopping, so this spud soup is a perfect way to use the spare foodstuffs lying around!
Thanks!

To hate onions is to hate life.
I had been experimenting with using a pure chocolate base for my hot chocolate - a 95% Venezualan gift given to me.
And with white chocolate hot chocolate, which is interesting, though perhaps oversweet.

Alanna - Yes, there is a difference in the leavening agents here, so maybe that's what it is. Thanks for stopping by!
Chris - I recently discovered chamomile tea... it's so refreshing!
Annie- You are not allowed visit anymore if you talk about Florida weather!
Thanks Robocop!
K8 & TLG - Let me know how it goes if you try it!
Abulafia - "To hate onions is to hate life" - Could not agree more. There is nothing sadder to me than someone who thinks they don't like onions and I say think, because these same people tend to like convenience foods, the base flavour of which always comprises of some sort of onion concoction! I cannot cook without them. Your chocolate sounds wonderful! Not such a fan of white, but the Venzuelan stuff sounds fab - maybe similar to Mexican hot chocolate?

Nowhere near as good as Mexican I'm afraid.
No onions, no leeks, shallots....
Unthinkable.

I just made it for late-lunch/early-supper and it was delicious. I forgot to add sour cream, although I'm gonna have some again tomorrow and will be sure to top it off with a dollop.
I made the bread rolls, but only had wholemeal bread flour -- so they were probably a bit more dense than yours. Must get some white flour to try these with .
Thanks for sharing so many recipes!

(meant to add that the bread rolls were tasty even if a bit denser than when made with white flour)

Everything looks so good. And I must tell you these are three of my favorite foods. Could you tell me though what are rooster potatoes?

Spud soup a roaring success!
I'm normally a slow cooker, but this took a surprisingly short amount of time to prepare
The end result was very stodgy (deliberately!) and left us with that lovely comfortable fullness, even though even my binbag of a husband couldn't finish it! Even my picky three year old did her best to devour hers.
I reheated the rest the next morning, added a bit of tarragon and served it with brown bread toast.
Bleedin' delicious!

I HAVE to add this. My husband came home the next day (after I made the soup) and we ate it for supper that night. This time, I added a generous dollop of sour cream (creme fraiche) and OMG it was MUCH better (if that's possible)!
You did ask us to report back, lol

K8 - So glad it worked for you.
Hi Kelly - will do. Ciara has been really sick, haven't been online much.
TLG - I don't doubt it for a second. Sour cream makes everything better!

That hot chocolate looks delicious. I like thick hot chocolate but never seem to be able to get it right. I'll try your trick next and try adding cream, bet that will make it.

Hot chocolate - my favourite. I love to add a kick with a dash of chilli. Heaven.
As for snow - half a centimeter of the stuff in Ireland and the entire country grinds to a hault for days!
