Gravatar I'll second that

Gravatar Chop Block? That was the key to the game. 2 line backers out and speed rushers on end. Take out the Tackles and run up the middle out of the spread. I think the defense played well given the circumstances.

Spence? To quote Caddyshack, "I think he out-finessed himself." Bait them all week with JD showcase talk and burn them with an air attack. I think that was the plan, but we did not execute the passing game. A little concerned that Harper/Kelly did not step up and carry the load. Maybe we just can't catch the football in Atlanta (ala GATECH).

I lost a lot of respect for Tubberville in this game. A real dark SOB that clearly will do anything to win.

Happy New Year

Gravatar I knew the game was lost in the 3rd.
nothing about our defense was impressive, our offense was anemic, and don't get me started on the special teams.
typical tiger game

Gravatar As a Clemson fan and a Cubs fan I am used to this numb feeling that occurs just when things look good the wheels come off. 3rd and 13, I just keep drinking I know it is about to fall apart nothing you can do. Tubberville is a scumbag (chop block) he knew taking Scott out would open things up in the middle. That was his great plan.

Gravatar If I were JD I'd never want to set foot on the field under Rob Spence again... Also, Harper dropped the ball, finally Spence gave me what I wanted, long passes, and he couldn't complete them. It was absolutely pathetic on his part. I didn't think missing Capote would make the offensive line look so bad...

Gravatar I think what we saw in this game was a team playing with the same "whew!" factor as in the SC game except this time our luck ran out. We certainly played well enough to win and should have done so, but ended up losing, ultimately due to the same factors as two previous losses (BC and GA Tech):

-Buchholz (and special teams in general)
-Horrible time management
-Unwillingness to trust the excellent running back combo to convert a short fourth down play

I was able to watch the game with my dad (class of '59) and I found it very telling that the next day he was watching his old tape of the '89 Gator Bowl. Ah, if only, dad. If only...

I also noticed that Willy Korn was very upset no one was paying attention to stuff he was writing on the clipboard. No doubt a play that would have melted Tommy "Lovechild" Tuberville's face off.

Gravatar "Chop Block? That was the key to the game." You're right, the chop block that Tub's obviously called on purpose lost you the game.

Gravatar Nope,

We lost the game because AUB scored more points than Clemson.

Due to the facts:
i) Lack of Depth of defense (ran out of gas). Due to academic ineligibity and the injuries caused by an illegal CHOP BLOCK. I am sure Dorrel Scott and Glynn Dorsey would attest that these blatant attempts to harm players were simply freshman OL mistakes.
ii) Inability to execute the passing game. Harper played like crap - couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. When he did - the WR dropped the rock.

It was a good game. Stong defensive struggle. But in a game that means nothing - no championship implications - I am disgusted with how Auburn played the game.

Tubs is piece of garbage. How much did he have on the line in this game? Let's review his contract and determine what it's worth to "take out" a student athelete with NFL aspirations. Thankfully, Dorrel did not receive career ending injuries.

Bring on Bama!

Gravatar What did any of you expect? Clemson to win? When, in the Tommy Bowden Era has Clemson ever won a game that actually mattered? Better get used to this shit because Suspence is coming back for a wholeeee notha fucking year! I just heard that we start out with Alabama, ouch. 0-1 to start the season but at least its a non conference game. I already see Bowden at the end of the music city bowl next year, "We were only one or two plays away". How long will you people keep eating that shit up?

Gravatar As long as he keeps saying it. It's like he's happy competing in the special olympics rather than aspire to the real one. Sure, winning the special olympics is good, if you're a retard. But clemson isn't retarded, our coaches are.

Gravatar Never won a game that mattered? That Georgia Tech game last year with the whole world watching? Ringin a fuckin bell? 90% of the games we've played against South Carolina and FSU? You're bullshitting if you say they don't mean anything.

We do win big games. We don't win all of them. No one does. We didn't win many of them this year. Sometimes we win games that end up less important in retrospect.

We are very obviously just as not immune to injuries/attrition as everyone else. We've played significant games in recent years without Ford, Billie, Watkins, Stuckey, Waters, Hamlin (went out in the second half), Grisham (SC), Taylor, Roman Fry, Dorell Scott, and others I'm sure. If you think we have the depth and talent to win every game without a few things going right for us, you're kidding yourself. We're getting better. We're getting deeper. We aren't that right now.

You idiots keep being impressed at how Tuberville wins this game and almost wins that game, but just ignore how they maddeningly inconsistent they are too. It's not a unique thing to Clemson, nor is the psychosis of the fans unique either. Perspective is always in short supply in Pickens County. ALWAYS.

Gravatar wow. someone is pretty fired up.
I think the point is that bowden keeps saying we're almost over the hump. I didn't realize that west and hatfield had depleted us so badly. sweet jeebus! those guys should be locked away for ruining the whole clemson football program!
We have beaten a declining FSU team (the only reason they're ranked at any time is because of history, not because they actually have accomplished anything lately). We've beaten a crappy SCar team because we own them. But even an Auburn beats UF or UT or UGa once in a while. When was the last time Clemson beat VTech? Or BC for that freakin' matter, kyle?
Auburn competes for SEC Championships. Clemson doesn't compete for ACC Championships.
Very simple really.
The perspective is easy: Clemson is mired in mediocrity. It comes from the top down. TDP is mediocre, Bowden is mediocre, Spence is sub-mediocre...
That's perspective, buddy row. That's it.

Gravatar THE CURSE IS ALIVE!!!!!!!

Gravatar kyle, Jason pretty much explained everything that I would have had to. kyle you are an idiot. Your brain is worthless. Also, how did the GT game matter? We still lost 4 out of our last 5 and ended up in the shit bowl once again. kyle, dont have children. Thanks.

Gravatar Looking forward to Oliver and B. ball.
Go Tigers!!!

We have UNC tonght...

"My boy is running for his life!!" Quote from Major Harris' Mother regarding Rev. Kirkland & Mr. Buckner & Company... Thank you Levon for great years and great wins.

Gravatar "You can bet Spence will go back and study the formations and situations in which he called receiver screen passes. Opponents appeared tipped off by season’s end, and those are an integral part of how Spence chooses to set up other pass routes while also attempting to keep linebackers from crowding the box."

-From The State
tipped off? end of season? you're joking right? Hopefully he will rip out that page in his playbook

Gravatar Fuck Rob Spense! He uses Clemson to gamble. That motherfuck calls his shit plays because he is in debt with the Mafia. That geeky white mother fucker gambles and I hope that it costs his family their life.

Gravatar It is the drugs. Usually, it is the drugs.
