From Mark Miller.
UPDATE: The proof is being worked on, which then will be sent to be approved by the athletic department. I'm trying to work with the Atlanta Clemson Club to collect checks and keep up with the funds, which would make the entire process much smoother. Just from this post yesterday, $500 was raised, so talk to every high roller Clemson supporter you know and run it by them...

I don't see the point of this at all... why would I want to promote a game (making more people probably want to go to it) when its going to be hard enough for *me* to get tickets to it. As a recent graduate who has less than 40 IPTAY points, I can't even buy tickets through the school, and will probably end up having to either pay out the ass to get something off of stubhub, or get something off of a scalper in front of the ga dome.
It's not like they need to promote this game any more in order to get more people to show up. I guess I'm missing something here.

You definately are missing something here.
It not about promoting for ticket sales.
ATL is a hot bed full of high school talent.
Jeff Bostic has already taken this over, and has assured us that there will be a major billboard in ATL starting august 1st sponsored by IPTAY.
Anyone with half a brain realizes this game is already sold out...
But that doesnt mean that the entire city of ATL is aware of it. We should take advantage of this situation and use it as a recruiting opportunity. A Clemson University recruiting tool in general. If Clemson is really going to reach National Powerhouse level, the city of ATL will need to become a bigger part of the the blueprint IMO

I gotta agree with fdog and I would also like to add that as I respect your point Merritt, I don't think that a billboard in Atlanta is really going to help us all that much with recruiting. That's like saying a blimp or sky writing or a guy wearing a Clemson placard downtown for a month is going to help us recruit. Real powerhouses act like the recruits need the school, not the other way around.

The Billboard will not give us any commitments... Clemslon has swung and missed on countless ATL recruits, exception of Davis.
The billboard will not say " hey recruits, come here, we need you"
But you cant tell me that a high profile billboard wont be driven by numerous prospects and for that minute, Clemson will be on their mind... some may even call their recruiting coaqh here at clemson "hey, guess what I just saw." Its a conversation starter nonetheless, and is a symbol of our spirit and commitment to our football program.
Not only out football program, but our University as a whole.
Our visability sucks in ATL... this can only be a positive.
It will be up by Aug. 1st.

I was just informed by Jim Bostic, President of IPTAY Board of Directors, that the
Athletic Department would pretty much take it from here and fund the billboard out
of their own budget, so there is no longer any need to raise funds for this project.
I have been assured that there will be a "major billboard in downtown Atlanta"
starting in August.
Thanks for your all your help and Go Tigers!

lets see, MSG, Check. Bbq sauce, Check. English muffins, Check.
I'm not going to enroll in that clown
college, though...that advertisement had absolutely no effect on me
whatsoever.
*starts carving a circus tent in his mashed potatoes*
That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough. I'm going to clown college!
(BTW - a billboard would be a great way to get recruits... if we wanted to recruit homer simpson)

I didn't read any of this but it sounds like a bad idea.
