If the proprietary artwork is the property of heretics or schismatics, then Catholic usurpation for parodic ends is licit. Error has no rights! Or so I'm told...

Actually, Archdeacon, it's the property of Catholics who mean well but have nonetheless earned a good-natured ribbing.

In that case, Snuffles, the licitness of the parodic usurpation depends on whether the well-meaning Catholics in question are of diocesan or pontifical mandate.

Bring on the parody! I think that opens you to appropriate artwork anyway as a form of free speech.

I don'r know the name of the manga, but apparently there is a harem manga about a man who feels drawn to a Catholic vocation, but (and don't tell me you didn't see this coming), he is accidentally put in an all- girl's seminary, or something like that.
Needless to say, sexual innuendo-charged hijinks ensue. For dignity's sake, I will not post a direct link to the manga's information page.
I think, seeing as how this place is the only Catholic blog I know where anime/manga are discussed at all, I think it would be a good time to explain to curious readers how the Japanese look at Christianity, and how it has been integrated into the Japanese pop culture. Two good places to start would be Hellsing http://www.amazon.com/Hellsing-1...s/dp/
159307056X or Chrono Crusade http://www.amazon.com/Chrono-Cru...06765561&sr=1-

Ironically, both these mangas' plots involve secret organizations opeerating within the Vatican. Turns out Dan Brown's copied off more people then he realizes
P.S. Yes, I'm blegging, but I think everyone would get a kick out Snuffles insights on this topic.
