As far as the conservative/liberal divide goes, I'm with you. What ever happened to just being Catholic, following your faith, and actually listening to what the Church teaches as opposed to determining what the Church teaches based upon what you think it should teach?

Both conservatives and liberals do that - most of the time. They only fudge with Church teaching in a handful of instances, but those instances are usually pretty important things.

@ Histor: I agree with you, although individual results may vary. The thing that annoys me about both ends of the spectrum is that they're composed of two different and equally-infuriating kinds of people: (1) the ones who are ignorant of the truth themselves, but believe that YOU are equally ignorant and therefore when you try to correct them they don't listen; and (2) the kind who know what they're doing, don't care, and yet think they're still just as Catholic as the Pope.
