The Sci Fi Catholic Yak Module

having been raised under the terrifying doctrine of the Rature, in particular the 'nuclear holocaust' version of the seven years of tribulation that follow, I share a certain distaste for the shameless profit taking of LaHaye and Jenkins with these rehashed "Left Behind" books. One thing it did instil in me was the importantce of being right before God. But only in becoming Catholic did I become motivated by love, rathert han fear.

Gravatar Well, let's see...I do remember St. Ignatius Loyola stating that serving God out of fear is not bad because it can develop into love.

I didn't intend to imply that LaHaye and Jenkins were particularly shameless in their novels; they didn't expect them to be best-sellers either. My only objections to the books are theological and artistic: They are theologically incorrect, and they are bad art.

Gravatar Congrats on your 1 year anniversary in the Church (this year marks my eighth.)

I guess I am also a SF Catholic since it has been my dominate choice of reading since I was a child and still is.

Gravatar Thanks, Jeff, and congratulations on your anniversary, too.

Gravatar "Pretrib Rapture Diehards" is a great little summary of pretrib rapture history. I found it on Google. Marge

Gravatar Thanks, Marge.

Gravatar Welcome home! (I was on the '04 Tiber Swim Team.

Gravatar Thanks, Esther.
