You give Protestants too much credit. The last Protestant that I heard say people should wait until marriage to have sex ended up marrying a Catholic. I think the vast majority of Protestants won't be willing to say wait until marriage to have sex.

Thank you for your comment, Jamila. I really can't say about the majority of Protestants; it was Evangelicals I had in mind, who are in agreement with the Catholic Church on issues of abortion, adultery, fornication, and homosexual acts. They are not typically in agreement with the Church on contraception, but some are re-evaluating that position. As sexual ethics increasingly dominate political discussion in the U.S., I think many Evangelicals may move closer to the Catholic position simply because the Church has fully developed its sexual theology and Protestant sects haven't.
Unfortunately, I think it would be fair to say that a great many Catholics are not in agreement with the Church on this issue either. See today's post for a continuation of this subject.
