See Zenit.org for the pope's remarks he made a few weeks ago about how harmful this sort of nonsense is. It's his address on education to the Romans and well worth reading (scroll down).

I always splurge and send myself a big bunch of roses to the office on Valentine's Day...with a rather cryptic message on the card like "You were MAGNIFICENT last night..xoxoxo". We have one snoopy secretary who delights in reading the cards that comes with flowers And of course I plan of being out for most of the day so by the time I'm back at the office the tongues are REALLY wagging
And so of course when I finally see them on my desk I pick them up, give them the obligatory smell, and say in a very coy little voice "Very pretty aren't they?? " Drives folks nuts

Here's the quote I assume you mean, Xena, and it bears repeating:
Even suffering is part of the truth of our life. Thus, trying to shield the youngest from every difficulty and experience of suffering, we risk creating, despite our good intentions, fragile persons of little generosity: The capacity to love, in fact, corresponds to the capacity to suffer, and to suffer together.
So for all of us who won't receive flowers (from other people) on Valentine's Day, let's agree to suffer together!

Let me get this straight.
Previous to this year -- nay, to February of this year -- students in a school could receive deliveries from extra-scholan sources??
What, did they get pizza deliveries in the middle of third period, too? Fed Ex from Amazon.au? Dell boxes in gym class?
*roll eyes* If anybody had tried that at a school in my youth, the principal _might_ have been nice enough to hold the package until the end of the day or next morning, if it had been some sort of vital pharmaceutical that came with a doctor's note. Otherwise, the delivery would either be refused, or accepted and enjoyed by the office personnel.
How stupid would you have to be to accept deliveries at a school? Especially in this time of security concerns?
