I haven't been to a Faire in AGES, they are usually a BLAST.
The ones I attended in LA were frequently attended by many fine Scotsmen and Irishmen in their clan finery..there's just something incredibly SEXY about a man in a kilt...and of course an excellent opportunity for me and a couple of girlfriends to be saucy wenches and NAUGHTY..

Thanks for the invite but got it a bit too late...was at Sat Mass this morning then RD JR. and I have a date this afternoon...gonna FINALLY take in Iron Man...
I LOVE to attend in costume but alas I am no longer a sassy young maiden..so I'd have to update my character, probably something along the lines of a either a matronly German beer wench or, to more accurately reflect my religious vocation, a religious habit, preferably Carmelite.. either one would be GREAT fun..
The Ga Renn Fest is a yearly event for my daughter and myself. I started going in 1987 when it was really small and actually concentrated on the Renaissance and late Middle Ages. Lately it's been pirates and elves and a few leftover Riverdancers from the 90s. The new age contingent has always been pretty strong though.
We just got back. Lucky had a great time.
As soon as I arrived home, I got some news that's both really cool and a little sad, but I'm not sure I can tell anyone yet, but I'll post on it in a few days. But it has me sort of jumping around in my chair with excitement right now.

For some light reading tonight I will alternate between Apostolicam Actuositatem--Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity by Pope Paul VI, and Space Vulture, upon the recommendation of our illustrious blogmeister (Space Vulture, that is), accompanied by a steak on the barby and a refreshing strawberry margarita...tis a bit warm here in my abode....

I was gonna ask what the heck a cosplay was, and then I remembered I have Wikipedia, the authoritative source of information on all things pop-cultural. I learned a new word today .
Better yet, I brought along the goldfish with whom I have an ambiguous relationship and got lots of people to pose with her! Check the photos!
