The Sci Fi Catholic Yak Module

Gravatar I've already oiled up my jacket and brushed off my hat. Don't forget the whip! Or does that come next semester?

Gravatar But Last Crusade has gratuitous references to St Anselm! And it has Greek! How can you diss it so?

Gravatar Yes but....

Raiders of the Lost Ark started it all... For those of us who can trace our years back to that era when the movie FIRST came out..and thinking Harrison Ford as a geeky archaeologist (No offense Deej NO Freaking WAY!! He's Han Solo..and there's nothing that he can possible do that can be as good!! And this movie will just be a waste..Well, weren't we surprised!! We were on the edge of our seats the entire movie, grabbing onto our dates, and EVERYONE screamed when the Nazi's faces melted off!! That movie was one of those moments that you will always remember,(It was between my junior and senior year in High School) and who your date was (in my case a tall handsome blond named Jeff, and he lasted until Temple of Doom maybe that's why I'm partial to blonds , and that you just COULDN'T wait till the next movie in the series

Alas though.. I fear my beloved Indy may be getting a bit creaky in his golden years..but I bet he's still a babe magnet Please let him keep his shirt on and let me keep my fantasy...

Gravatar Just curious. Is anyone here a a fan of the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles? I watched a few of them during their original broadcast, but missed many of them due various reason, most notably the inconsistent timeslots on ABC.

I was excited to hear that this series would finally be coming to video, and subsequently horrified when the pricepoint was revealed. So...I've been viewing them on Netflix, and, unfortunately, I've been finding the episodes to be rather hit or miss...particularly those with very Young Indy.

I love most of the episodes starring Sean Patrick Flannery, particularly those centered around the WWI era.

Gravatar It's true about Raiders being the best, 'though I remember the huge sigh when we heard who would play his father in Last Crusade....I hope it doesn't get hashed & he might be too old to do his own stunts, but I think Ford still has the panache to carry off the humor of the role. In any case, I'm counting on you to let me know if it will be worth going to the trouble of a baby sitter to see big screen.

Oh, and despite the spiritual benefits of giving up fiction for Lent (which are real enough), this is way harder than the yrs. I gave up meat, chocolate, etc. Way. Harder.

Gravatar For those who were in high school, I'm sure Raiders was a memorable experience, but for those of us who first say Temple of Doom in grade school, well, what can I say?

Gravatar Temple of Doom is one of my favorite, especially since Shorty is in it. But Raiders is the best in my opinion.

I don't know who you are kidding, you know you are excited about it and are going to enjoy it.

As a well-seasoned archaeologist, I will be there as well with my hat on.

Gravatar I've seen the second Indy flick twice. Once, hated it. Twice, confirmed I hated it (all the part in them middle, definitely).

One and Three: rule!!!! Watched those over and over. The first one, three times in the theater within the same couple weeks. Then on a pirated tape soon after. Still have a very soft spot. But man, how could you not love a Grail thing with Petra and a centuries old knight. Puh-lease. Rocks.

Gravatar I didn't like Temple of Doom, mostly because it was gross and had a stupid ditsy blond in it. Actually, I think it was mostly that blond that ruined the movie for me. Yes bugs everywhere is gross, yes getting your heart ripped out is gross, but at least try to defend yourself.

I liked Marion much better. As for story I enjoyed the Last Crusade the most, but I like puzzles and the ending is such fun

I do not expect much from this one; hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised when it's not as bad as I think it'll be.

Gravatar Grossness! Yet another thing in Temple of Doom's favor! How could I have forgotten that?
