baby is getting so big. I cant believe it. Have fun with the bread.

Gravatar Isn't King Arthur's addictive? I sit on the futon with the catalog, dreaming of the confections I could make. Sadly, I am less health minded than you - I dream of cookies. Hundreds of cookies.

When I was in college, I made a loaf of Laurel's basic bread. I did not, however, compensate for the fact that I lived in the mountains of Colorado, and was at very high altitude. We played football with that loaf.

Gravatar Mama, I quit receiving the King Arthur catalog because I just sit there and drool over it! There are so many awesome tools and goodies in there, I can't stand it. I may get the "Baking Sheet" someday, though. I guess it has lots of recipes and things like that.

Gravatar Wow! The King Arthur's site is amazing!

I'm unlikely to get their flour (in Australia), but their recipes and tips and primers and... I've had a great time exploring

This has been really timely, I've been thinking about making bread recently so your post (and that cool site ) have inspired me. I got yeast today, and my mum's recipe... and tomorrow or Friday I will have a go

(I haven't commented before - or, I _think_ not, but I'm a regular reader. We plan to home school... but Puggle is currently only 13 months, so I followed links from somewhere and discovered you. I always enjoy reading what you have to say, and looking at those glorious pictures )

Gravatar Fe, check out the Classic Sandwich Bread on their website. I've been using the 100% white whole wheat, made from hard white spring wheat (I wonder if they ship to Australia?), and their all-purpose flour, and it makes fantastic sandwich bread, though it still is partly white bread. Still, it has not trans-fats or corn syrups or other junk, and it's a joy to make. I made two loaves yesterday, and there's only a half of a loaf left!

I'm glad you have been able to take something away from my site that's helpful to you. Let me know how your bread-baking goes!

Gravatar I've been thinking about making homeade bread, but haven't scratched up the courage to try it. I'm an OK cook, but don't do a lot of "scratch" cooking. The King Arthur site looks to hold a lot of tips - -thanks for the heads-up!
