Your last paragraph - plain truth - to MacNeill is very well stated, and the truth.

This guy should have taken some philosophy classes. Most of the atheists who have taught me philosophy would be embarassed by his ignorance of basic philosophical issues. He wouldn't be able to say half of what he says without a much stronger argument if he tried to present this to philosophers. And that's the better half.

David: Don't panic! Because MacNeill only exists inside your head.

Er, actually, do panic. Because there must be billions of them!! The more people that read this, the more he exists. Quick!!! Delete this post!

I think one thing that must be remembered is that Berkeley and Locke hit on this. Berkeley, especially, taught that to be is to be perceived:
esse is percipi

He was an idealist/immaterialist, while I hold that the same is true as a materialist: many things have no objective or material reality, and exist only as concepts/ideas inside minds, which are, themselves, contained solely within the brain, which is, itself, solely material

I am a physicalist, who holds to supervenience of concepts

It's not really so dumb, after all.
