That's very interesting. Heresies do often reappear in new forms, and often they become more powerful than they were in their previous appearances. The anti-materialism of the gnostics and others was inspired by greek philosophy that held that true happiness could only come when a person was freed from the physical body, which of course is in contradiction to the christian idea of a physical resurrection of the saints or even the garden of eden. The best way to fight heresies is through prayer and loving endurance towards the people who have fallen into errors.

There have been heresies in the church right from the very beginning, and there has been no shortage of them to the modern day, including the one cited by the article that mistakenly holds salvation came through 'faith alone'. One can only imagine what kind of new heresies the church will face in the future.

God Bless,

David Murdoch,

Thanks for the comment. I like RC's who stand by the pronouncements of Trent. I prefer being a "schismatic and heretic" so much more than being a "separated brother." I mean, there was a Reformation.

David,

You should ignore that comment. You know more about Catholicism than most Catholics do.

Your love of God (as well as Scripture and History) is obvious in your posts. Also, it's evident you are searching for the Truth and I can tell from your posts that you do see the Beauty in the Church but it's other reasons that keeps you away.

I guess what I'm saying is that it's okay to see you as a "separated brother" and a "Schismatic/Heretic." :-P

Dennis,

Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks again!
