Gravatar And hey, Jose (and Jos-B and Jos-C and all the rest of you) ... don't forget to sing the National Anthem with your beaner words, like, a couple of hundred times. This will make the evening news. Yah. If you want to impress "middle America", that is going to help ...

Gravatar I'm going on vacation on May 1st. I'll hopefully be able to post pics on my blog when I get back on the 3rd.

Here's the lyrics to the anthem:
"The Star-Spangled Banner"
(First verse)
O, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O, say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave

"Our Anthem"
(Translated from Spanish)
Verse 1
Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail as night falls?
Its stars and stripes floated yesterday
In the fierce combat, the sign of victory
The flame of battle, in step with liberty.
Throughout the night it was said, "It is being defended."
Chorus:
Oh, say! Does it still show its beautiful stars
Over the land of the free, the sacred flag?
Verse 2
Its stars and stripes, liberty, we are the same.
We're brothers, it's our anthem.
In the fierce combat, the sign of victory,
The flame of battle, in step with liberty.
Throughout the night it was said, "It is being defended."
Chorus:
"Oh, say! Does it still show its beautiful stars?
Over the land of the free, the sacred flag?"

Gravatar Arcto, the march organizers could advocate the violent overthrow of the US government while standing under the Mexican flag and it wouldn't make the evening news. The only thing you will hear on the news is about "the peaceful show of immigrant solidarity". No mention of Atzlan, or amnesty, ot la Reconquista.

Gravatar I'm really torn on this issue. On one hand I'm sick of these people feeling like we owe them something beyond the oppurtunities that just being in America affords them. On the other hand Burritos es muy grande y delicioso. What a conundrum.

Gravatar No kidding #1, I'm going to miss the fish burritos at the local resturants.

Gravatar Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Gravatar And TR also said "A hyphenated American isn't an American."
Teddy must have been able to time travel. Maybe he had been to Edison, NJ.
