Welp, my father taught me to be kind to all ladies.... unless they didn't act like one. Buttttttt, I have to tell you, my first reaction to the Dove adverts (at the movies before Ghost Rider no less) was "Holy Shit, Grandma, put your clothes back on!!!"
Man Allie those chicks are smokin'. You know what's great about skinny chicks is that it hurts less when they punch you, which is a real concern for me, unlike a big momma who can get real velocity behind her meathooks.
Oh and Tom, I know that Victoria's Secret does huge airbrushing that's why I put the candid shots of Adriana at the the end, I think she looks better without the photoshop, but believe me I know when it comes to women the illusion is always better than the reality.

Yes they're as beautiful as Adrianna AC1, the only difference is say about 40 years? It's called ageing. How about Sly Stallone. The man was last spotted on his 5th facelift and bundles of steroids making like a 30 year old tosser in the jungle somewhere. And it's not even Stupid Old Punchbag's History month.
I think the point a lot of people are missing is that no one wants to see old, wrinkled grannies in advertisements.
No one would make an ad campaign with naked old men, so why should it be any different here? Ostensibly, Dove's ad campaign purports to show us that old ladies can be "beautiful" in their own way, but we all know the real reason behind the campaign is shock value. Let them do a campaign with shriveled old men or 500lb young women, and I'll be convinced they are concerned with "real" beauty.
But they do - it's just a slightly different industry. We got Sly - he's fugly and old and still trotting out films like he was 30. Show me a film where a 61 year old actress pretends like she is still some siren and nothing's changed.
I think its bit of a false analogy to equivocate a movie star like Sly Stalone to a random, pudgy old woman in a soap ad.
Is the point of Stalone's movies to sell beauty products? I'll be the first to admit his movies suck and they have no point, however no one is holding Stalone out there as the 'real' concept of beauty or even acting for that matter.
Stalone is what he is- a washed up 'action hero'. The producers of his movies arent implying to us that in his oldness he is somehow equal to actors much younger and better. They are merely trying to cash in on what little following & cash generating revenue he has left from Rocky and Rambo.
Thus, comparing Dove's 'real beauty' ad campaign to a Stalone movie requires a mental game of twister that I dont think most people are willing to engage in.
Yeah they are. They're palming old Sly off as some young dude. It's selling an illusion and based on the same image based BS. Old women will buy beauty products and let 'em. It's not aimed at you. Besides, the beauty industry is screwed up across the board as it is. I'm sure AC1s next post will be about anorexia.

Old chicks want to buy products aimed at them, they want to feel good about their fat and wrinkles and aging and stuff.

Exactly! I think it's cool for the old birds too. So the fellas will have to put up with some old women wanting to feel okay about themselves. Fair's fair...! Honestly? I'd rather watch Maximus Decimus Gladiatorius than be visually assaulted by wrinkly Sly Stallone OR for that matter the total queers in the mens perfumes and knicker ads. It makes me want to barf on the Tube of a morning seeing them all with their wotsits on display slabbering over one another's torsos.

The point of the ads is not to show someone who is overly beautiful, but to show someone who is REAL. Real people who are not airbrushed. Yeah, maybe they don't look as great as a normal, airbrushed model, but the real people represent a higher percentage of americans (or people in general)
If you find the illusion is always better than the real deal, does that not hurt your love life severely? I hope it does.
