Save the planet or wean us off ME oil?

Seeing it work in Brazil (where your government is investing heavily) recently I think ethanol rocks. Plus it was fucking cheap.

Like any other fuel issue it needs careful planning.

Ethanol - issues with crops. Oil - issues with being blown to shit by religious nutters. It all "turns deadly".

Brazil's sugar cane-based industry is far more efficient than the U.S. corn-based industry though. The U.S., potentially the largest market for Brazilian ethanol, currently imposes trade restrictions on Brazilian ethanol in order to encourage domestic ethanol production. And like everthing and anything, in the end its all about planning for sustainability and keeping those who regulate and manage it in check.

p.s im not the aDM in your post

Bullshit....

This whole thing is a scam...ethanol is NOT a viable alternative to oil..the United States imports most of its oil from countries other than the ME...We need to increase our refining capacity, we need to produce ALL of our electricity from sources other than oil(Nuclear, Coal, Hydro), we need to develop our OWN reserves, we need to shoot all the hippie, socialist, environmentalist fucktards...How much sugar cane is produced in the US?? Not that much?? Why do you suppose that is? Maybe because IT FUCKING GETS COLD during the winter in most of the agricultural areas?? Ethanol...Jesus Christ....

"ethanol is NOT a viable alternative to oil"

It's ONE viable alternative, you angry muppet.

Gravatar I heard this was a humorous blog...
Very funny.

Gravatar The Haitians are fine, they still have dirtcakes.

Gravatar america needs more nuclear power...even the socialist idiots in the U.K. have figured out (surprisingly) that its the way to go.

Gravatar Yeah, let's use a fuel that requires more grain than we can possibly grow...and then make it law. Super! Do I get a gold star on my greenpeace card? Pfft.

Gravatar "even the socialist idiots in the U.K. have figured out (surprisingly) that its the way to go"

Aww thanks. Same with the socialist idiots in France too. 75%+ of their energy comes from nuclear - some of which they export to the UK.

Gravatar You forgot long term depletion of soil nutrients making us even more dependent on Saudi Oil & gas.

Corn farming costs fertilizer.
