The notion that we should let citizens of other countries dictate national policy is absurd. America doesn't take orders from Canada, nor vice versa, so why should we listen to Mexicans?!?

The penalties for illegal aliens in Mexico - near instant deportation or prison.
Then Mexico tells us we have to be more respectful of their citizens illegally in our country....hmmmm

The government should have sent an airborne division to one or two of those rallies, surrounded them and told them to surrender to law enforcement or the troops would open fire on the crowds. We have a military in part for reasons likes this. There aren't enough cops in to stop that, but an army division would be enough to let law enforcement do its thing.
They should be processed, slapped with a class 1 felony (cannot legally vote or own a firearm for life now) with no prison time, have their name and DNA recorded, deported and on the way out be told that if they are caught again... they can expect to given life in prison.

Personally, I'm sympathetic to the idea of putting 30,000 troops on the southern border with a federal law that says that the Army can summarily execute any non-citizen or resident alien caught on our side of the border if they refuse to go back to Mexico.

Get ready, it is coming. This will get much worse. I am desperately trying to convince my husband to move us back up to the Pacific Northwest.
Today, I had to bring in my preschool class from our outside time because there were Mexican protesters behaving like idiots less than two miles away. The police helicopter was my clue that I needed to bring the children inside. I called the local police dept. to confirm the situation and I made the correct decision to bring the children inside once I learned of the protests.
Yes, I work in Mesa, Arizona. The divide here is now crystal clear.
I will be resigning from my job as a preschool teacher ( this year I taught six Hispanic children English and the Pledge to the American Flag, along with the concepts of freedom and personal responsibility, yet I can see the Hispanic parents are sympathetic to the protesters), and dammit this makes me so angry.I thought I was helping children assimilate into America. Yet I can perceive that they do not want their children to assimilate. I can see what is coming, and to protect my family I will no longer be going into the city anymore.
I see very bad things coming down the pike, and I am scared. I cannot justify allowing my youngest, who I take to work with me ( the Christian preschool my child is in is wonderful)because I will not put my child at risk for what I believe are the inevitable race wars coming.
No matter how many brave men we station on the border. We have 20+ million illegals in our midst and they are being whipped into a frenzy by their Spanish media and by Mexico itself.
It is a shameful situation for the leaders of both the USA and Mexico.
Had our government adhered to the Constitution and protected our borders, we would not be faced with this upcoming dark time.

Oh, I don't think I'd do well with blogging. I'm a bit too sensitive and I don't like finding myself under a barrage of unfriendly comments. I also don't want to deal with nasty emails.
But it is nice of you to suggest that I write well enough to blog.
I wish I weren't right about this invasion. I don't want some of the awful things I am imaging will happen come to pass. However, I know they will.
I do not believe you want to live in any major US city in the next ten years. If you can, buy some property now in a more rural area.
Just my .2 cents worth.

Right on! The most compelling argument for immediate deportation and an electrified fence and minefields at our southern border is the proliferation of the flag of Mexico in the demonstrations. This is nothing more than an insurrection by non-Americans, whether by fact or loyalty or both, within our borders and needs to be dealth with as such. Throw 'em out, and the ones that come back, lock 'em up and throw away the key.

Let me preface by saying that I'm likely the most pro-immigration one here. There are definite economic benefits to both sides, and immigration should be a tradition of a free country. But at the same time, I've always called for the abolishment of the welfare state -- for everyone. It shouldn't be our responsibility to educate illegal immigrants' children, or our neighbors' children either. Nor should we be forced to pay for others' health care, whether they're illegal immigrants or tenth-generation American seniors. Cut out the big government programs, and the only immigrants trying to come here will be those who want to work, and criminals (who we need to start deporting to dungeon-like jails, instead of playing catch-and-release).
But even I recognize that the protests aren't calling for freedom. They're calling for reconquista. Instead of coming here for the protection of our Constitution, they want to subjugate us to create their vision of society. It's a quiet kind of imperialism that's "politically incorrect" to criticize. Your words are well taken, Dystopia, and it's unfortunate that they win either way.
Sadly, it creates a backlash on the other immigrants, both legal and illegal, who came with no intention but to work hard and honestly, with no desire to leech off others. These are the people who, like my mother, want to become naturalized citizens so they can be Americans. (I was born a U.S. citizen before my mother was naturalized, in case anyone wonders.) The protestors we've seen are the kind who want to become citizens so they can get even more government services.

To the best of my knowledge, no one here is anti-immigrant. I'm anti-illegal-immigrant.
I agree with the abolishment of the welfare state. Withtout that structure, there would be far less incentive for them to come here.
Thanks for your input Perry, I think we're all pretty much in agreement here.

Ultimately, though, what's the difference between a legal immigrant and and an illegal one? None of us would really care if it weren't for government creating the distinctions, and certain uncompetitive Americans who lobby government to "protect" their jobs. And if government didn't have the power to take money from some and give to others ("social services" and "human capital investment"), nobody would bother calling for "reconquista."
I support loosening a lot of the non-health restrictions we have on immigration. Combined with the abolishment of the welfare state, we'd know the people coming through our checkpoints would be those who wanted to work. We'd then know the ones sneaking through the desert would be up to no good.
