Went to a work lunch at O'Charley's.
My order took forever. I'm not a jackass customer, either. I'm the guy that gets ticked off at folks at my table acting rudely to the wait staff.
But this order really did take forever. Then to add injury to insult, there was hair on my steak. Not a single hair, either. As in a rather large clump of reddish hair.
Send it back, taking up more time. They bring it out. I look it over quite carefully.
Ask for a "to-go" box since everyone else was done and leaving at this point.
There was food gunk IN my take out container.
At this point, I'm just laughing at the incredibly bad service.
No one offers to take anything off of my bill, either.
Two days later, my checking account is short some $40 or so.
In addition to my lunch, they'd charged someone else's to my check card. Twice.
The manager did not even seem the slightest bit apologetic about this when I stopped in to have them credit my card back. Nor did he offer me my original lunch purchase back or even a $5 gift card.
I was about to firebomb that ****hole at that point.
I really cannot remember the last time I was impressed by customer service. Sad but true.
But the local Chick-fil-A is always fast and friendly. I go there quite often and have never been disappointed. It's all too rare these days.

Dif, that's freaking awesome. It's also a good thing that both times you came in you dealt with not only the same person, but the manager; who even if she didn't recognize/remember you, she still is "qualified" to make that sort of calculation.

It's nice when it happens.
It's why capitalism does work.
I wonder if the guy at the other place ever learned from his mistake, or if the place eventually shut down or got a new manager?

Hey, WW is right.
You're starting to sound like a, well, um... member of a party to remain nameless that you continually pick on.

I'm sure it's no coincidence that the owner, Truett Cathy, is a committed Christian. I just recently saw a piece on a Christian Network channel about him. I didn't know anything about him prior to this, but scanning over their site and his own site, he seems to be quite a man. Here's a little snippet from the Chic-fil-A site:
“I was not so committed to financial success that I was willing to abandon my principles and priorities. One of the most visible examples of this is our decision to close on Sunday. Our decision to close on Sunday was our way of honoring God and of directing our attention to things that mattered more than our business.”
* Chick-fil-A is the only major fast-food restaurant chain to be closed on Sundays, one of the busiest days of the week in the restaurant business. Despite being closed on Sundays, Truett Cathy has led Chick-fil-A on an unparalleled record of 38 consecutive years of sales increases, with its core free-standing restaurants achieving higher sales per unit in six days (with shorter operating hours) than most major chains in the industry.
Chic-fil-A is still a privately held and family owned chain.

I'm sure you've seen the video on YouTube about the guys scamming a Fast Food restaurant. The fools filmed it and then got caught.
Believe it or not, my daughter had a real good experience with a used car dealer, Larry Miller Used Cars in Caldwell, Idaho.
They apparently bought a lemon and after fixing the transmission twice in 2 weeks (for free), they gave them full credit on another vehicle. They have been driving it for 3 months, problem free.

It's amazing what a difference the manager can make.
There are two Wendy's on University Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota. Both are managed by 20-something Black women . . . I know because I've talked to them both, at one time or another, about the ordinary mistakes that teenagers make when filling a fast-food order.
The Wendy's at Dale Street sucks; the one at Fairview (3 miles away) rocks. Cleanliness, promptness, accuracy, correcting mistakes quickly with an apology and no surcharge - the difference is absolutely stunning.
Yes, I routinely drive right past the Bad Wendys and go the extra three miles to eat at the Good Wendys (that's what my kids call it - the Good Wendy's).
I have no idea what a fast food manager gets paid but it can't possibly be enough to put up with everything they have to do. Hats off to those who excel.
