I'm worried that, "generating tax revenue" will rationalize, "helping my big campaign donors" or, "punishing my political opponents." |
The liberals ruled for this??? |
here's more from the site |

That's two in quick succession that the so-called liberal wing of the court has gotten wrong (the other being the medical maijuana stuff). I can see eminent domain for stuff like roads, schools, etc., but to say you can just take someone's property so that a town can increase its economic base is truly outrageous. It will definitely hit the poorest folks first and worst as developers look to distressed property in high density areas (such as the town I live in, which basically has no more buildable space) and push those people out. Where will they go then? |
I was wrong when I said we're all going to hell. |
Yup. |
Not only will the developers get the land, they'll probably get major tax breaks, city-supported infrastructure, reduced electrical rates in some cases, etc.... then a bailout if they fail. Progress. |
It sounds to me like one of those incredibly awful decisions that damages the country for decades after, like Buckly vs. Valeo or Bush vs. Gore. |
(Buckley) |

It looks like that saying that all politics are local just took on a whole new relevance. We have to start running and supporting progressive candididates for local school boards, water boards, city and county government positions. |
Sign of the times! Business "uber alles"! Terrible! |
Here's a view of where it's sliding: |
Is it just me, or does anyone else notice that this is another of our freedoms thatis being removed? Can you spell "dictatorship"? My god America WAKE UP!!!! |
I am still looking for the names and political alliances of the idiots that voted for the stealing of a persons home for the benefit of private developers. Where can I get this info? |
ASC, I hate to burst the bubble of a good rant, but Scalia voted "nay" on this decision. (Gawd, I hate having to admit I agree with anything Scalia says.) |
My thanks to Red State Blues. |
How on earth did they justify this ruling? |
Bankruptcy reform + credit companies doubling minimum payments + rash of "security failures" at commercial and credit companies + this new ruling + housing bubble bursting = |
Yeahhhh, Red State, he might've gone on the RECORD against this one, but if this guy can "justify" protecting Bigus Dickus from prosecution by "sealing" those "energy council" meetings --- Antonin is one cheap whore. |
New London, all liberal democrats lining the pockets of big government. Meanwhile you rant and worry about conservatives and big business? What fools you are. |
