You slavishly quote an airy-fairy article from the Weakly Standard and it doesn't occur to you that the officers of the Joint Chiefs of Staff are constantly sifting through information regarding the situation on the ground in Iraq. That is part of their job, but I'm sure you know that.
Consequenty, Obama's Joint Chiefs of Staff will work together and focus on ending the war in Iraq and, "in an advisory capacity" to the president, they will offer their advice based on their expert knowledge and experience of the facts on the ground. That is also their job.
Perhaps rather than trying to explicate a simple statement by Obama, you might question the reasoning powers and mental capacities of the authors at the Weakly Stanbard.
Finally, McCain has greenish-yellow teeth. I would never vote for a Commander-In-Chief who can't take care of his teeth. I'm voting for Obama. Not only is he superior to McCain in the dental department, he is superior to McCain in all aspects of patriotism.
