Gravatar I am currently on a disfunctional team with a guy named Doug. He always wants to design and code rather than doing the more interesting and more important tasks of planning, costing, and scheduling. His lack of enthusiam for the management issues is causing a rift with the program team. What should we do?

Gravatar Here is a rather off beat question a friend of mine got on is very first interview out of college with IBM.

"Suppose for a minute that you are a king with four kingdoms. Each kingdom is required to pay you tribute each month with a bag of 100 gold coins which each weigh 100 grams each. You find out from one of you trusted advisors that one of you kingdoms is cheating you by making each coin only weigh 99 grams. You are most troubled by this and decide to consult your wizard. Your wizard tells you that it is hard to measure to that degree of accuracy, but he has found a spell that he can use only one time that will have that degree of accuracy. With only being able to weight one time, how do you figure out which kingdom is cheating you?"

Now remember this was the very first job interview he had ever been on and was very nervous. He did not get the answer right (or get the job.) I don’t think I would have done much better myself. Let me know if you want the answer.

Gravatar Four coins from kingdom A
Three coins from B
Two coins from C
One coin from D

The discrepency will tell you which kingdom has been cheating... I think

Gravatar Here's a question I always like to ask. If you went camping with a bunch of guys from work and got really drunk and passed out, then woke up in the morning with a condom hanging out of your butt. Would you tell anybody? If the interviewee answers no, then I promptly invite him camping.
