Gravatar The Globe, the Free Press?

I'm curious as to what is going on?

It can only think of:
1) Revenge of the Hilldites,
2) Punishment for Moving rhetorically to the Center, or
3) Realization Obama will probably get Democrats kicked out of Washington for years to come.

Gravatar as boston harbor was to dukakis

this project is to obama

Gravatar Yeah, he wants to be the president of the USA and ignorant people are letting him be... How scary!

Gravatar Alternative theory? Suppose that the public housing project is near a gentrified area that could be expanded if the public housing were demolished. Grove Parc is near the University of Chicago.

Is it possible that developers would try to have the public housing demolished so that they can make the huge bucks? In other words, Grove Parc's condition is not an act of negligence, rather, Grove Parc's dramatic decline has been planned by its managers because there are huge dollars to be made by having it demolished.

Gravatar There is a lot Obama isn't telling us, trust me. Wait until his sexuality comes into question and Michelle is exposed as the beard that she is.

Gravatar This says nothing about his other major failure in Chicago: The Annenburg Challenge. That one doesn't even get a mention on his resume, mostly because his friend Ayers is behind that fiasco.

Gravatar If Michelle is really Obama's beard he would be better off clean-shaven.

Gravatar Well done Doug. Looks like your photographic evidence nails the charlatan!

Gravatar GROVE PARC RESPONDS TO ARTICLE ON OBAMA HOUSING POLICY
Tenants call on all candidates to support Human Right to Housing

In recent days, leading news organizations around the country have reported on the housing policies of Senator Barack Obama, following a feature article published in the Boston Globe which highlighted the example of the Grove Parc Plaza Apartments, a subsidized housing complex in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood that we call home.

The Globe Article, while rightly raising concerns about the failure of the private sector to adequately provide for the housing needs of the poor, unfortunately leaves out half of the story. Grove Parc is not just an example of the failures of past policies, but a beacon of hope for the way forward. Tenants have not only stopped foreclosure and the displacement of some 500 low income families, but also brought in new management committed to working with the tenants to rebuild affordable and quality housing for all residents. In so doing, we have highlighted two fundamental principles that both presidential candidates would do well to heed as they finalize their housing policy platforms,-- first, the full participation of tenants, who have the biggest stake in housing policy, and second, the guarantee of quality housing for all as a human right and social responsibility.

In the wake of massive housing cuts, privatization, and foreclosures that have left millions without a stable home – problems for which both major political parties must take responsibility - it is time for both candidates to tell the American people how they will ensure quality housing as a human right and reality for every American family. In short, the new administration must ensure a roof over the head of all American families.

Never has it been clearer that government has to play an active role in ensuring that America’s families have safe, decent housing. Millions of home-owners are facing foreclosure. Gas, food and utility prices are sky-rocketing. Thousands of units of public housing are being torn down from New Orleans to Miami to Chicago and close to 500,000 families - including many elderly and disabled - may soon be put out on the streets due to Congress under-funding HUD’s subsidized housing program by $2.8 billion this year. Homelessness and poverty will continue to rise until we treat housing as a human right rather than a source of profit for speculators and developers. In Chicago, for example, a recent study published in the Chicago Tribune shows that a minimum wage worker would have to work 97 hours a week, 52 weeks a year to afford a modest two-bedroom apartment. Low-income communities of color, in particular, are being ravaged by this crisis, which extends far beyond housing. Displacement weakens our communities and in so doing makes problems like youth violence and unstable schools even worse. The promise of “mixed-income” communities has been a smoke screen for a set of policies that have involved t

Gravatar Ugly photos of one neighborhood to be sure. But the alternative is McCain's economic adviser Phil Gramm, who killed Glass-Steagel, which fed the housing bubble and now makes it impossible for anyone to figure out if their bank is going to go belly up. Frankly, those Chicago neighborhoods would be shitty with or without Obama, but if not for Phil Gramm, this credit mess may not have happened or been as severe, and I wouldn't have to figure out how to shuttle my nest egg around in $100K chunks, which if you're smart, you'll be doing too. I'm betting that paying Obama's higher taxes will cost me a lot less than giving Phil Gramm the keys to the U.S. Treasury and letting him bail out all his Wall Street buddies and kill what's left of my dollar holdings.

Gravatar Frank, quit lying...Phil Gramm was 1 of 3 sponsors of the Glass-Steagel bill that was passed by Congress and a delighted President Clinton.

Gravatar Republicans love rich people. They want there to be lots more of them.

Democrats love poor people. They want there to be lots more of them.

Mission accomplished, Barack.

Gravatar Sorry Frank - you shot that wad too early. Now the bubble has popped and the autopsy has commenced. Guess what isn't getting blamed? That's right, Glass/Steagel. The diversified banks are the ones that didn't go under, and in many cases are now buyers. Say hello to Chris Dodd for us when you're in the neighborhood, won't you?

Gravatar Campaign for “A TRANSPARENT MASS–MEDIA”

In the rush for sensational and bigger profits, we got use
to distortion the reality.

We present you some negative facts which do not onor
us and we fight against it !

1. The presentation, with regularity in news reports of the negatives aspects, subjectively commented, taking sides or sententious.
2. The vitiation of Romanian image in the World through resentation of an unauthorized opinions which labels a whole nation after an individual behavior of some Romanians, or even worst, of some Rromi (Gipsy) which have problems with the law.
3. Repeating the same negatives news in a bigger or smaller period of time.
4. The periodic generalization of irregularities, like being a rule to follow or a national character feature.
5. Taking over of unchecked information from persons which has interest and are subordinated of the corrupt triangle – political man – business man – mass media representative, which detour the attention from the true causes of the events.
6. Often, we see how unprofessional broadcasts have as protagonists some characters, citizens which has problems with the law, having a trivial vocabulary, where are revealed information related with the private life or of trials. We warn you that the justice cannot be done with the television and neither influencing the course of an investigation through all sort of maneuvers or diversions which claims that is a journalistic investigation. We ask ourselves on good reason, if the mass-media didn't develop his client capitalism.
7. To abstain ourselves in the attempt to sub-appreciate the state institutes, to encourage the anarchy and the special interest groups which has as purpose the destruction of the force and the authority of the Romanian national state as a right and democratic state.
8. As we know, the state fundamental law, The Romanian Constitution, claims clearly at article 30, paragraph 6: “the speech freedom cannot prejudice the dignity, the honor, the private life of the person and neither the right of the self imagine”; paragraph 7: “are prohibited by law the defamation of the country and the nation, the inducement of the aggression act, at national, racial, class or religion hate, the incitement to discrimination, to territorial
separatism to public violence, also the obscene manifestations, which contravene of the good behavior”. Also in article 31, paragraph 3, claims that “the right to the information cannot prejudice the protection measurements of young or the national security”.
9. In this context, we propose to constitute an organism with juridical authority “National Council Against Manipulation”, as the existing one, named “National Council for Disproof of Discrimination”, which will have the purpose to discourage the media, imagine and ideological war, to forbidden the intoxication of the public opinion through disinformation, but also the over-information.
10. We address ourselves to the Romanian President,

Gravatar MCP Press Agency anticipated
the victory of the American leader.

Congratulations to the new President of USA, Barack Obama!

The brilliant result of the democrat Barack Obama, finalized through occupation of the Oval Chamber, brings to light also this time the power of the democracy which was predictable, not only a simple political slogan.

This model of democracy vitality proved clearly that Luther King's dream should had become a reality and that nothing is random.

So, the first Afro-American president, Barack Obama, declared in an impressive gathering that:
“I never had this much hope that we will win”.

For the representatives of the Organization which I represent, “MASS COMMUNCIATION POWER”, the motto: “With better peoples, the hope becomes reality!” can be surely confirmed also in Romania.

I recommend you to read also the Press Release of MCP Press Agency, from 15 of January 2007, called “In Memoriam of Dr. MARTIN LUTHER KING”.

A conclusive paragraph of the present press release, state the fact that: “the idea of civil society, cannot exist outside the civil rights in a democracy, and those have as central point, the personality of Dr. KING, with his life and activity”.

The material is displayed on the website “Curaj.Net – Exprima-te!”.

The same article is posted also on my blog – Blogger: User Profile: MIHAIL GEORGEVICI

Yours,

President of “MASS COMMUNICATION POWER” (WWW.mcppress.ro)

Gravatar Pardon me for saying so, I don't mean to offend any or ALL americans by saying this, but SOME americans are either really stupid, or really unused to real problems. The building shown in some of the pictures, and in one of the videos linked to this article, is in excellent shape, except for a few barred windows and a missing mailbox. Not to mention the fact that it's been built during the 90's which in my book is NEW architecture. So really now, open your friggin eyes or a dictionary and try to understand what "abandoned" or "inhabitable" really stands for. Have a nice day.

Gravatar Yay, good intentions! I have me those.. can I be prez next? I've, umm.. done stuff in my community too!

Gravatar You know sitting here hearing all this crying and being a black republican make think that it all our fork because we put money before good sence, why in the world would any one want to bulid something that look like a prision that you put on top of each other, it would have been easy to build pone house at a time then we would not have the problem that these rich develp-business men would not have put us in this house-bank-buyback-not car trouble. With wall street falling down the poor will make the rich pay for what they have done to this country.

Gravatar Every single one of those residents in those pictures would tell you Obama is a great man and they'd vote for him again. That's what you're dealing with.

Gravatar Um, back2blackokazii,

So you're saying you'd have no problem living in that neighborhood or those buildings that Obama helped get into that condition?
