What alledged conservative Republican President (and Republican controlled Congress) has done away with even one of the socialist nanny state programs foisted off onto the taxpayer from either FDR or LBJ?
IF the Republicans want to impress conservatives (the people who actually do the work of getting out the vote) they should start dumping ALL these inane programs...

I would add a SUCK.IT.UP policy for irresponsible borrowers and lending institutions (per Michelle Malkin). Then the government could try it as well.

Yes! Thank you Doug. I will be linking to this and passing it around for sure.
I am very afraid of what is going to happen to this country in November.
I've also thought that if the Republican Party wants to go left so bad, its really time for that third party in this country ...

Excellent. Sideblogged that. Works well with my current item on Democrat propaganda.
If only the party were this smart.
But they're not.

REDUCE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT - provide "whistleblower-style" awards for reducing the size of government.
If you want to reduce government you *have* to say what is being reduced, asking the IRS to be the responsible party is as good any any - but why not have the department of Agriculture set goals?
This one has been a bipartisan unicorn since ever I have been following politics.
Secondly, which is it - reduce the size of government or provide for awards?
SPUR HEALTHCARE COMPETITION - Address health-care deficiencies - with competitive, free-market solutions, not Government largesse.
One good suggestion, good luck on finding a way to repeal monopoly health regulations.
ADDRESS ENTITLEMENTS - engage a bipartisan consortium to create a multi-million dollar competition to incent teams from private industry and academia to create solutions for our social security and Medicare liabilities.
Oh good golly miss molly - Do you really think that a bipartisan commission is going to change entitlements one whit? I am sure Democrats will love this plank - they are suggesting a "bipartisan plan" in response to the Republican push for drilling. Do you think a plan to drill will be included with the emphasis of drill here, drill now - you really have got to be kidding.
STRENGTHEN NATIONAL DEFENSE - increase the size, capability and efficiency of our Armed Forces, bringing back our defense spending to historical levels as percentage of GDP.
A bigger and more "efficient" white elephant is still a white elephant. How can you fail to see the paradox between paying for a bigger military and the goal of having a reduced government?
SECURE THE BORDERS - build physical barriers immediately as a precursor to an overarching, sensible immigration policy. If the boat's sinking, you plug the holes first.
When the US Armed Forces are defending Iraq, Afghanistan and a dozen lesser installations IN OTHER COUNTRIES, what do you expect? Again how to you reconcile reduce the size of government with a program to build a wall?
DEATH TO EARMARKS - zero tolerance for earmarks.
Government spending programs without earmarks are as bad as government spending programs with earmarks. I don't like earmarks but to believe that they are a significant problem is to ignore government spending gone crazy.
DEATH TO CORRUPTION - zero tolerance for corruption.
Another unicorn goal. It would be nice to accomplish it but a 2.5 trillion dollar budget is a cornucopia for corruption. The only way to substantively reduce corruption is to reduce the $'s it feeds on.
ENGLISH AS NATIONAL LANGUAGE - national unity requires a national language. That language is English.
I don't mind this one, sounds nice enough.
IMPLEMENT FLAT TAX OR FAIR TAX - simplify the tax system by eradicating a tax code gone mad.
The problem is too heavy a tax burden, reduce taxes by 80% and the need to evade it through the tax code also goes down 80%.

"STRENGTHEN NATIONAL DEFENSE - increase the size, capability and efficiency of our Armed Forces, bringing back our defense spending to historical levels as percentage of GDP."
The US is spending more on defense than the rest of the world combined! How much more do you want to grow that? And why? It's not making us any more secure. Many of the most secure nations in the world spend far less per capita, as a fraction of GDP, and total than we do.
Listen to the warning of a true conservative and military leader, Dwight Eisenhower: the military-industrial complex is the real danger and a major source of corruption in Washington. If we want to end that and bring our finances in line again, we must reduce our military again to the lean and mean military that our nation was founded on, not the bottomless pit of corruption and government bureaucracy that we have now as our military.

I agree with everything except this "GAIN ENERGY INDEPENDENCE - open up ANWR and the OCS to exploration; aggressively pursue nuclear energy and green technologies; and incent private industry to aggressively pursue clean, renewable energy sources."
Going to green fuels is to me like asking to go to Russian Red(communism). I think to gain energy independence we first should think about getting out of opec. Not completely, though, first we should take care of our own then everyone else. There is absolutely no reason why gas and or diesel should be over $1 a gal.. Also lets be intellectually honest with each other. Global warming and everything associated with, is the single largest scam known to mankind. It is crippling our economy. Think about it??? CO2 is part of a cycle that they are tying to kill, and in turn will kill our plants, trees, and then us. Leave the demogods to that and let the nature natzis ruin themselves. We need to keep clear of that.
Thanks

Mostly agree, but I fear a national language has more to do with nationalism than conservatism. I am a dedicated conservative, but nationalism is unhealthy.
