Gravatar This is an excellent rundown of the situation. It’s simply a shame that it will have no affect on liberals – especially the very people whom were directly left out in the cold by Obama. This was, in part, what I discussed at my site today. This situation, among the ever-growing list of blatant an egregious lies (or “refined messages” if you listen to the media), will ultimately not amount to a hill of beans come November.

The media is fully in the tank for Obama so they will continue to overlook, underreport and soften the blows no matter what. Add to that the McCain camp’s unwillingness to exploit Obama’s long list of shortcomings and sprinkle in the blind following of the voter base, and you have an excellent case against an Obama presidency which won’t change the opposition’s mind and won’t reach the “undecided” and “moderate” voters.

I weep for our future.

Gravatar These people love humanity only in theory. Conservative blogs and media have to beat this drum so loud and long the major media will HAVE TO address it somehow.

Gravatar Pity that MSM and "giddy" brainless talk show hosts will never deal with this REAL and Present Danger!

Gravatar So it maybe that I just don't yet understand the overlapping responsibilities in the US political system, you are saying that: Obama as a state senator had some direct authority over privately run, but (according to your post) federally subsidized low income housing, right?

Now I can see the city having some (zoning related?) authority, and the federal gov't has it's fingers in there due to the subsidies, but where does the state fit in? Or am I just missing part of the picture?

To be clear, I'm not excusing the the moral lapse on Obama's part for not, at least writing a letter (as he did the following autumn in support of funding seniors home). He could likely have done more, but... did he have anything more than a vague moral responsibility? Was he in his position, as a state legislator, to actually DO something?

It seems I should also point out that the cold winter in question was the winter of 1996-1997 (the lack of heat was Jan-Feb 1997). Obama's time as a state senator was 1997-2004. He was still campaigning in Jan-Feb 1997 when the heat was off. In fact the resko donation in question was January 14, 1997.

Certainly, that paints a negative moral picture of rezko for donating to a political campaign at the same time that one of his companies was claiming that it didn't have enough money to turn the heating back on... but as far as I understand it $1000 wouldn't have gotten much heat into the building and in any case, that was Rezko's personal money, not money from Rezmar Corp.

Once again, questionable (at best) moral judgements, but we already (at least now) know that Rezko is a scumbag. And I'm really not quite clear what Obama could have done as an unelected candidate for State senate.

But I'd certainly be happy for you to explain if I've missed something or gotten it wrong.

Oh and just for reference, all my dates etc come either directly from this post or http://directorblue.blogspot.com...t-keep- his.html or from the answer to the yahoo question you linked to from the older post. http://answers.yahoo.com/ questio...19174701AAPdgVt

Gravatar Interesting questions, Syrrys, and I'm consistently frightened of this kind of "explosive news" about "the anointed one" distracting us from the real crux of the problem... the fact that he'd be associated with such, as you indicate, "scumbags" like Rezko, Ayers, Wright, Dohrn for such long terms.
He continued those relationships until it was politically impossible to keep them, then simply threw them "under the bus".

Would you want any of the above named folks living next door?
Me neither.
Why then are we even considering one of them as possible POTUS?

Gravatar If they are interesting questions, why don't you answer them? What exactly was Obama's political (not moral) responsibility, as someone running for a state office? What would a state senator's jurisdiction/role be in a scenario like this?

Gravatar This is a very sad story, and I definitely feel for those poor people who were freezing. But this isn't really something that was under his direct control, was it?

It's not like he told them to turn the heat off, or officially approved a plan for them to turn the heat off (like with Ms Palin and the "charging rape victims" scheme - there's no sign it was her idea, but she signed off on it.)

If there is any proof that he was actually *responsible* for this, please let me know. Otherwise, it seems like you're simply protesting that he has failed to be a demigod shining with light and divinely touch the lives of every single human being without fail. I would hope it would be already obvious to everyone, including his followers, that he is not Jesus.

Gravatar Emily,

Gravatar Smearing Obama through guilt-by-association is low. But if you must, then please be even-handed and examine McCain's ties to sleazy lobbyists, oh and Keating and the Keating-5, who fleeced BILLIONS from Americans.

No candidate is perfect. But the lies and distortions about Obama here are just awful.

You'd rather elect a reckless, power-hungry maniac like McCain? McCain "buried" his fellow POWs left behind in Vietnam. Fully documented here:

McCain and the POW Cover-up

Gravatar We'll see about that.

Only time will tell.
