Methinks Obama's campaign staff are the masters.
Clinton was good, but he had an almost psychopathic need to almost get caught or get caught but still get away with it.
I suspect he either was trying to brag, to shove it in his opposition's face, or both.
Obama's camp is as every bit as devious as Clinton, if not more, but it is entirely practical. He may appeal to emotions, both positive and negative, but his campaign's stratagems are professionally executed with no attempt to 'brag' or gloat about them.
Obama and his campaign is a cut above anything we've seen in decades and I think almost no one is prepared for it.

It is amazing, isn't it? His campaign was executed with almost military precision. Aside from Wright and a few choice incidents (like Michelle's ridiculous statements), it's come off very, very smoothly.

The Wright stuff coming out was inevitable. But they handled it very well.
First, the day to day handling was simply amazing (with some MSM help).
The story caught on a Thursday or Friday, so Obama's camp was low profile over that first weekend. Then Monday, Obama says he'll give a speech about it Tuesday. He gives a pretty speech which in he no way address his personal accountability for the situation. This was before a long weekend. So he keeps a low profile for two more days and the Easter weekend takes care of the rest.
He's basically only fielded a handful of direct questions about it from non-professional interviewers. And now the issue is out of the headlines. All this time we only have his speech and no real Q&A to chew on.
Secondly, I think the overall timing isn't bad either.
If this came to light early in the Primary he'd be finished. But it came close enough to the end, he has the momentum in the minds of his supporters and will still likely get it. He also gets to put distance between this scandal and the General Election. Eight months to push it into the past.
There really wasn't a better time for this to come out if you consider the overall arc of Obama's attempt at the Whitehouse. Although I think that was likely forced by Hillary pulling strings. But the possibility the timing was from Obama's camp itself to deflate the issue before the General Campaign, I have not ruled out.
In fact the only mistake in handling this issue was Obama throwing his grandmother under the bus. Otherwise I don't think it could have turned out any better.
