this is a gorgeous track. thanks indeed. i've been digging byrd's 'electric byrd' album for a bit now, but it's way more reverbed out and spacy than this. this tune is more my speed- straight up groove. nice auxillary percussion.

loving the heavy posts of late.

Donald Byrd is heavy but in a way that makes me happy and sad simultaneously. His horn is so extremely spiritual (A New Perpsective) and extremely funky (Thank You for Funkin Up My Life), he's always been an inspiration of what music can be...gracias, peace!

Junior, you're outdoin' yourself! Great great post, I'm always surprised how many afficionado friends of mine dont have this album - it does seem tough to find though (I got it in Bangkok of all places!). Listening to it was a trip though, I had picked up most of his late 60's and early 70's stuff and I never guessed that this record was just dropped down nicely right in between those 2 eras..... I have since dreamed of finding similar albums of low track count w/ high minute-count joints by the other Blue Note legends of that period!
