psych music is deep and overwhelming. like anything, there's a lot of crap, but there's also a lot of pure FIRE! and i think like any genre of music, it takes years to really get a grip on what's out there. i think this may be a good starting point.

nice post, but you are wrong when you say that "the empty boat" was "one of the few songs [caetano] ever sang in english." nearly the entirety of "caetano veloso" (1971), which was recorded while he lived in exile in london, is in english. the follow-up, "transa" (1972) is about half english, half portugeuese.

What a great selection! I'd been looking for several of these albums, but in lieu of that, these individual tracks are quite a treat. I absolutely love the Gandalf track and the J.K. & Co., by the way. I mean -- What the hell? These cuts could have been released this year and would still sound more cutting edge than the vast majority of what's out there. Do any of you have recommendations along these lines for a novice psyche collector? There's so much to be discovered and so little time, any help would be greatly appreciated!
