The Alhaji K. Frimpong song is a stunner- it is filling up the space between thunder claps here in Bangor, ME...

Gravatar Thanks for this interesting selection of tracks. The Timothy Willis, Alhaji K. Frimpong and Village Sounds sound like they will be up my alley. I will give them a listen soon.

Great post!

Cheers, Kevin

Gravatar Keep it up fellas. Lovin' the posts. If I'm not mistaken, I recognize a sample of the Frimpong track in Gnarls Barkley's "Storm Coming". I'm just going by ear. Eh?

Gravatar Hey enjoitherhythm, I must confess to not being up on Gnarls Barkley though I may have to finally get round to checking it out if they're sampling tracks like this...

Gravatar Can't speak of the new album but St.Elsewhere is worth a listen. Dangermouse is pretty skilled.

Gravatar Don't know about Gnarls Barkley, but I'm pretty sure that Dj Enki from Bay Area sampled Alhaji's track for the tune Kung Fu Kwaka...

B.

Gravatar And to add to the sample recognition parade, the underrated DJ Spinna used that Tony Williams record for Sadat X's album a couple years back.

Gravatar About Tony Williams: Search for the 1980 "Lifetime" trio with Tom Grant and Patrick O'Hearn. They will blow your mind if you find the offical albums fussy. They are only on a Swiss bootleg LP called "Play or Die", and 2 or 3 stunning live airchecks. Good luck!

Gravatar Hey Christian, thanks for the tip. Like I mentioned, I have a real love/hate thing going on with the group but am always eager to hear more from them. Will check it out.
