can't answer your question, but i love Regulate as well.

Gravatar Hey b, great post and an interesting question.

For me at least, while it sits below the eight albums you've listed, it should be held up these days as a classic g-funk album. Sadly its status among a certain breed of purists seems to be undermined by the continuous overplay of the title track on radio and in clubs.

However my judgement should immediately be ruled as void due to the fact that I reside the other side of the Atlantic.

Gravatar ... "other side of the Atlantic"... Ha! Yeah. One of the interesting aspects of choosing 10 favorite albums was thinking on how geographic loyalty factored into the selections. It wasn't easy for us 'mericans to admit that the greatest album of all time did not originate from the US (those crafty Beatles and their genius). 'Dah Shinin' seems, perhaps, the more appropriate choice for a proud resident of Bucktown; but, that G Funk just does down so smooth.

Gravatar Of the albums you named I would go Illmatic and then maybe 36..Im from DC and was raised on the NYC sound in the late 80s but I owned this album back in 94 and This is the Shack was one of my favorites, them drums, the smoothed out chorus, its sublime Cali music,(tho Ive never been there) all the way. Runnin.. shows Warren could work a sampler as good as anyone, love that beat! Warren G's most recent(2006) In the Midnite Hour deserves a listen too.Dude is a hiphop legend!Thanx 4 keepin it funky!
