In a surprising development, I would have preferred the risotto. Or, perhaps, a dish with cilantro and/or garlic: now THAT'S some fucking dopamine for you.
Thanksgiving stuffing this year will contain mushrooms. Vegetarian recipe, and I'll cook it outside the bird. Yum.
Of course, Mom's coming by; perhaps I should spike it with heroin or something? One does want to be a good hostess.

I wonder if the obese women that showed lessened responses to the milkshake sips did so because they had burnt out their pleasure pathway from overeating, just like a drug abuser cannot get the same high that he got when he first started using. Obese individuals must have eaten higher caloric density foods much more often than the normal weight controls. I imagine that it would take a lot more food delivered faster than one can get through a skinny straw in the MRI scanner to get the obese subjects VTA to activate as much as the controls. It would be interesting to do a cohort study of children and see how their VTA activation with foods changes over time and its relation with obesity.
