Though I am reticent to say, being a lowly undergrad and you a mighty PhD, but why not cut/drill/poke a few vents in the back of the computer cabinet?

I have thought about that, but I'm reluctant to cut some holes in my nice new desk! But, after the novelty wears off, i might take the drill to it.

I spent ten hours a month ago working on a desk for my son's schoolwork. Might have been the same model (does yours have a glass inset top?)
