I think the big giveaway about the Russian 'peacekeeping' force is that the P5 nations very rarely supply peacekeepers, for good reasons concerning impartiality. Save for a few Chinese deployments, the exceptions to this prove the rule - as with US forces in KFOR.


Damn, sorry, I meant to post that in the post below on peacekeepers. Here is what I was going to write on the press:

Apparently the events are being dubiously reported in the West as well, with Fox news juxtaposing the reports of 1,500 dead with the scenes in Gori, making it seem like Russia is directly responsible for the 1,500 casualties.

WRT the Russian claims of 'genocide', that is a little bit strong, but attacking a town with Grad missile launchers - a piece of hardware which will inevitably cause large scale casualties - surely counts as the indiscriminate use of force on the Georgian side.
