Its not up to US to do anything, but for Iran freedom loving population to do what it necessary for themselves. To say "US must uphold our end of the bargain" is only setting yourself up to be blamed if democracy failed in Iran. What you expect US to do? Send an army into Iran? Use political pressure? (whatever that means)

So many axis members, so little time We are looking to exit Iraq... by going through Iran! But what are we going to do, help the Iranians by attacking them? The mullas would have a field day with that one. I can just see the headlines now "Mullas call for human waves to repel imperialiast infidel invaders" The president's speech "We stand with you" is on the mark, but I have no clue how he is going to do anything about it. Someone on this blog needs to come up with some good ideas. For example, 0. Mass troops and equipment. 1. Bush firmly states that Iran is supporting insurgency. 2. Bush warns Iran to stop butchering protesters. 3. Protesters butchered by mullas, caught on film. 4. Bush pisses the mullas off somehow. 5. Iran overreacts somehow, causing their forces to get stretched thin. 6. The protesters at home meet less butchery 7. Days pass, unrest increases. 8. Protests get out of hand. 9. Mullas flee
That plan sucks, so some smart dude needs to come up with a workable plan. We just can't help by brute force, even if we had a million man army holding a million candles next to a million protesters.
Oh, before I forget, we have like a 51% majority over here that would be proactive. The mullas would have to do something really stupid (like attack Iraq) to maintain public support.
