A Daily Briefing on Iran - Regime Change Iran

This is the man who edited Kayhan under the Shah ?

Stange argument. Many of the senior aytaollahs are critics of the regime in Iran.

In any case, all the opposition inside the country realise they have to work with what exists. The kind of arguments Mr Taheri uses are found among exiles. Regime change would have to come from inside Iran, not from Los Angeles.

The sharpest analysis of the Iranian election so far. A must read.

Excellent points in this article.

Taheri does a very good job here analyzing what has happened and what may happen.

This is indeed a must read.

UNIVERSIAL TRUTH OF THE FREE WILL OF MEN AND WOMAN

OK, some have likened President Bush to Hitler and the rise of the Third Reich.

Can the same be said of Mr. Ahamadinejad?

Unlike Mr. Khatami, who claimed that Islam was the same thing as democracy, Mr. Ahamadinejad has no qualms about saying that the two are incompatible. He is also open about his belief that women are not the equal of men and that non-Muslims cannot have equal rights with Muslims.

Any regime, theocracy, or government that fails to recognize the universial truth of the free will of men and women is doomed to failure.

The denial of equal standing of woman will be the undoing of Mr.Ahamadinejad.

Another excellent analysis from Amir Taheri.

Yes, once upon a time kayhan was a qualified and distinguished paper.

Good post. I also think this change is for the better - WYSIWYG, not hiding behind a façade of "moderation". Also, it illustrates that the model was not working and that they're using their last resorts.
That said, there's got to be a way to stop them before they get nuclear weapons.

I see, Kayhan was 'distinguished' when it was run by the Shah and when there were no elections in Iran.

Incidentally, when was the last time America had a woman standing for president? And how many Catholics have been president?

Answers on a postcard to George Bush, The White House, Washington DC.

Has America ever had a woman canddiate for president?

Maybe Parisa could stand?

Or maybe she's not American? Must be frustrating to be out of Iran for 30 years and not at all accepted where you live. Must do funny things to the mind.
