I think my mother knew your mother, and my brother knew you. I'll let that second part go. Personally I was afraid of grass.
Funny how on the inside I still feel like the same person, just a little wiser, a little less likely to run off to slay a dragon only to find a dead kitten at my feet. For that reason and many others I like how I look now--old pair of shoes that I am. I've earned every crease honestly.
And for how young I am in other ways I think it balances out.

Sorry I didn't say much about the piece. I guess that's because I'm blogging about you tonight and I thought I already had.

"I think my mother knew your mother, and my brother knew you." Love the sentiment, thanks. Even though you may not have commented directly, what you have said indirectly is considerable, and appreciated.

I never was big on Tarzan. Tom Mix and his wonder horse Tony were my heroes. My son, though, absolutely adored the lord of the apes. He used to wear a pair of shredded jockey shorts and a carry a rubber knife in his teeth, bounding around the house like it was his little jungle.
A really wonderful piece. Don't worry about that mirror. I went through the same things when I got into my fifties. Now in my sixties I gaze at myself and wonder how Nancy has the time to fight off all the pretty girls who absolutely lust after me.
Also, thanks for you very kind comments over the past few days.

Ah, the master at work. Funnily enough, I nearly did a post on age today but was waylaid by the Blog Herald and had a party instead. But there is no way I could have swung with you on that rope and fought off lions and tigers in the jungle. Dang, you're good!

I enjoyed reading this, Scot.
I grew up on cop shows. Used to watch shows like Hunter, Cagney and Lacey, Sledge Hammer -- and I wanted to become a police officer when I grew up. I used to practice shooting with plastic toy guns. I would observe 'suspicious people' and note down their looks. I would copy movements from self defence books - didn't have anyone to practice it with but I visualised it all. I did join the police cadets when I was in my teens, and it was the best time I had. But my mind was set for science as a career by then. Still, all the 'training' hasn't gone to waste.
It was a wonderful childhood fantasy.

It's nice that Tanda and Liz came over to see you. Hopefully a few others will do so too. Yuna said she found our writing a lot the same.

I enjoyed this peace. I remember Tarzan and Jane. I always wanted a tree house because of them. I had a weeping willow that I used to spend time in as a child, because once I was up there, no one could see me. It was my little hiding spot where I could observe without being seen. I still like to sit on benches and watch people go by.
It is funny in blog surfing, how often I am reminded of things from my childhood. Generally they are things I haven't thought about in ages.
As far as the mirror thing goes, I have had the same thing happen. In my experience though, I wondered what my mom was doing in my bathroom and then realized it was me. It was frightening.

Hey, JC
Good to see you here. Weeping Willows have always been my favorite tree pretty much for the same reason. They're also great for setting up a picnic under. Thanks for reading, and for your kind, thoughful response.
