"...we part with tender relations stretching far behind us, that never can be exactly renewed..."

Gravatar I don't envy you the snow. Last time I was in D.C. I had my whole trip ruined by the three days of three feet (or more) of snow.

Snow is evil in my book. LOL

Gravatar Mojo,
Three feet certainly would make it difficult to be out and about in the city, especially in D.C. Out there in California, you have the best of both worlds during the winter. You can surf in the morning, and ski at night.
Thanks for coming by,
Scot

Gravatar I can always picture being there when you describe things.

"It occurred to me that when winter finally looks like it’s suppose to, I really don’t have a problem with it."
I feel the same way; once you settle into it and give in to it.

Gravatar Anon,
Your comment is appreciated. Thanks for stopping by,

Gravatar Scott,
Anon is me quite by accident.

Gravatar Yeah, I've heard that too about the winter and I'm not happy about it at all! So far it snowed here, but at least the temps are still bearable. I can actually walk outside for about ten minutes. You see, it's not so much the snow for me but the temps.

Anyway, I'm digressing.
What I really wanted to say is that I enjoyed this. I could see the Dodge and the Taurus. Such a familiar scene to anyone who had experienced this every winter.
And the whole piece was the same, just like rdl said, I can picture the things you write very easily.

THanks

Gravatar Melly,
Thanks for that. Appreciate it when you stop by.
Scot

rdl,
I was curious as to who my anonymous reader was. I'm glad to see it was you. Thanks for coming by,
Scot

Gravatar This is how I picture Christmas to be, how I imagine it. Very elegantly written.

Gravatar Elegant, as ever, indeed. The trouble with you, Scot, is that you make New England life sound idyllic, even the winter. You make me want to be there!

Now, this is all very well but I suspect that, given a few days to remember just what it is to live in a cold climate, I might be pining for the rather sunnier climes of Oklahoma...

Gravatar The snow was covering Main Street faster than the city could plow. Such a simple sentence. Such a perfect mental image. I echo all the comments before me.

I think it must be the way your eyes take in the world and the way you weigh your words. You're like an artist who knows the value of leaving out the places where the light shines too brightly as well as where we cannot see. The details that you choose to talk about are the ones that make me feel at home and part of the scene. It's a gift how you connect with the everyman in each of us.

Thank you for this beautiful painting.

Gravatar IdentityMIA,
Thanks for visiting. I appreciate your compliment, and hope to see you stop again.
Scot

Clive,
Such a cheerful comment for someone who's spent a few cold ones out on the plains of Oklahoma. I appreciate that you take the time to let me know the effect my work has had on you. Your compliment is appreciated and valued.
Scot

Liz,
You're welcome, and thank you for that descriptive assessment of my writing. I am pleased to know you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy yours. It is good to have such camaraderie, especially as we go through the winter months.
Scot
