I took the initiative to look the lyrics up myself, and I am glad to report there is in fact a line about leaving something "in the icebox". I am not crazy. Yay.
I mis-hear lyrics all the time. The worst is when you can't change how you've learned to sing it out loud, even when you've proven to yourself over and over again that your initial lines were wrong.
Re: "Take You on a Cruise", I have to say that I was delighted to find that Paul Banks had been namechecking the oft-slandered pitbull and not disclosing his being a "pimple in time" like I feared.
I had the opportunity to see this in practice last night at the Warfield. No pimples (at least not on the band).
Was the bassist still rocking his weird-ass "S&M SS Boy Scout by way of Third Reich Germany goth" outfit? That dude is one strange dresser, considering that the rest of the band was wearing normal suits the last time I saw them. (also at the Warfield)
Yep, he sported it holsters and all. I almost admire him for trying but it's getting a little creepy, even for a Crispin Glover dead-ringer.
