I think the purple ribbon means the aftershave was wounded while serving its country in the armed services.
Not sure about the silver paper.

perhaps the aftershave displayed gallantry in action against an enemy of the united states while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force. or, slightly more likely, served with friendly foreign forces engaged in armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the united states was not a belligerent party.

Oh, right. To clarify: The smell I settled on was something apparently called Hugo Boss "In Motion," though that name does not appear anywhere on the packaging. Anywhere. It's a gray thing with an orange square (orange being a principal note). I like it!
