This thing reminds me of the Tibetan "spirit house" my mom has in our living room as a decoration - the some sort of architecture, except mailbox sized.

it reminds me of those kits i got as a kid with the tiny pieces of wood. they were all carefully carved to fit together and you could make some sort of awesome triceratops or brontosaurus. it's like an awesomely ginormous version of that.

at burning man, they actually burn it as a separate ceremony the day after the big, raucus burning of the man party. they burn the temple pretty much in silence (thousands of people in silence), and it burns so hot it turns white.

that reminds me of a funny joke i like to make about the bay area. "this one time?... at band camp?.." becomes "this one time?... at burning man?..."
