Gravatar dude, that happened to me too, & it is suck times about infinity squared. eventually it will refuse to play mp3 cds at all no matter how much praying in front of it you do.

i ended up getting a thing from best buy that plugs into my cigarette lighter adapter that holds my ipod & transmitts it through the stereo by radio waves.

Gravatar maybe you have a dry joint or something. just a little one. and when it's cold the metal contracts and isn't touching no more, but when it's normal temperature they touch enough to work?

i dunno.

Gravatar Dag-nab-it! When I was young, we had to burn our mp3's with a cigerette lighter and a piece of aircraft aluminum! Why aircraft aluminum?! Because of the KAISER. Meddling kids...

Gravatar the embedded computer processor that decodes the mp3s in your stereo is going to be the most delicate component. it's probably just gone bad from all the thermal stress.

OR, it could be that the electrical system in your car has gone just wonky enough that the power to your stereo isn't good enough to run the processor until the car "warms up".

Gravatar Perhaps it's slightly damp.

If so, you should put it in your oven for a short while, to dry it out, like those things in posh biscuit tins.

About an hour at 200C should fix it right up...

Gravatar Lice.

Gravatar I have the same problem - standard CD or MP3CD. The only thing that fixes it is to listen to either Fiona Apple CD for at least 30 minutes. Fiona's my stereo mechanic.

Gravatar > Fiona's my stereo mechanic.

Good to know she found something to do since her label won't release her album!

Gravatar maybe it's got west nile disease.
