Dogs are awesome for this reason. My dog will not ever sleep anywhere but places I usually sit. So now that it is 12 degrees outside (and too cold inside because I live in the draftiest house), she warms my chair/bed/couch up. It RULES.
See, at least your dog has a rationale. Bo is beholden to no law of which anyone is aware!
You should check to see if there is a hot water pipe or light fixture under the spot that Bo likes. He may be going for it because it is warmer there on the floor than anywhere else. I once discovered a broken water pipe under the foundation after noticing my cat started sleeping in the middle of the living room floor for no apparent reason.
My dog, being a faithful guard dog, sleeps every night in the literal 3 square feet of the house farthest from the front or backyard doors. She curls into a corner in an upstairs bathroom literally as far away from any source of danger as there could possibly be.

Glad to see a Dogblog update! Drove through your fair city a couple of weeks ago en route to SoCal and thought of the dogs I was missing seeing. Now I see them again!!!
