White petrolatum is the ingredient in chapstick that moisturizes dry skin. We encounter the yellow version of this (not as helpful) in Vaseline. Anyway, my pharmacist friend tipped me off to this last year when I was having terrible dry skin problems in Rochester's cold, dry winter. You can go to the drug store and either get Chapstick's 100% (or 99% or something) petrolatum squeezy tube, and this means that you are getting all active ingredient and no filler. So much more moisturizing. Or you can get what I have, because I couldn't find that; I have a big tube that just says "white petroleum" on it. Same thing. It made a huge difference for me.

Okay, enough medical advice for me today. :P
