An electric blanket is nice, but you can get dual the heat with an electric fitted bedsheet (technical name, I’m not quite sure, but it’s like an electric blanket but looks like a fitted sheet). The two together generates much more heat than any two bodies!
Question: Why the HELL do you need an electric blanket if you live in Cali—especially coming from a guy who grew up in Syracuse
Hope all is well!

Jaren, this might not have occured to you, but San Fran is on a coast. One of the not quite so warm (read: cold) kind of coasts. And air that blows off of a large cold body of water is usually also cold. (Really /really/ cold.)
That and it rains a lot around here, which adds to the inherant coldness which was there already.
Oh yeah. And it's January. Most places (not all, mind you, but most,) get cold when it's January.
It is cold here.
Jon, I am very jealous of you and your blanket. Cheers.

"the coldest winter i ever spent was a summer in san francisco" (ish) it gets freaking cold here.
even if there's a body in the bed, it's only the one side that gets warmed up. electric blankets make much better partners.

Jaren lives in New York; she is well acquainted with coastal climate. But I think she maybe has just never visited San Francisco (it does get damn chilly here).
Also the heat was broken at my house up until yesterday.

My electric blanket is one of the best gifts I've ever gotten. Maybe that is why I have been feeling down lately - I can't find my electric blanket!
Also yeah the other person in the bed only warms up the spot where they are sleeping, not any other place. Otherwise I would have no need for an electric blanket.

An electric blanket combined with my super thermal radiation body would melt me into a puddle. I have no point of reference for understanding your electro-blanket love. Though it sounds like just your cup of tea. Anything that allows you to further refine and control your environment is very Jon.

For what it's worth, I was never so happy to have an electric blanket as when I was in that uninsulated, unheated apartment in Japan in the winter. I would crank that thing up all the way and crawl in under 5 more blankets, and before I had pulled it out of my closet I was considerably colder at night. I left it for the girl who moved there after me because coming from Stanford, I didn't think she'd think of that.
Also, a lot of people were telling me that apparently consistent use of electric blankets can cause cancer or something. I think that's hooey, but I haven't done any research on it, and in any case I think it's a small price to pay for being warm, in bed, which is truly a wonderful thing.
