i dont know what you drove through, but skunk spray is actually a slightly sticky liquid. it clings well to things, like predators and cars. your car would have had to come in direct contact with some of the goo for the smell to linger that long....maybe there was a
as for getting it out, seeing as you can't douse your whole car in tomato sauce (tomato sauce neturalizes the smell because it breaks down the smelly compound...i think)...try uhmmm....vinegar? look up viengar, i think that works. put it in a spray bottle and spritz. febreeze won't work because it just masks odors. you need something that is going to actually /destroy/ the odor.
i love skunks.

I scrolled past this post numerous times today on my friends list, and every time I've read your subject as "skunk poverty time." Just thought I would mention that.

I think I was right about the sun being able to destroy it, or else it just didn't feel like sticking around, because the smell is gone now! I was afraid that would become a lingering issue.

You know what? Skunk stench is actually not too bad from a distance. Kinda sweet and musky. Up close, however, it is the stuff to make people puke (my dog got nailed once, I did puke while I tried to wash it off of him.)
As for the puddle... there might have been a dead skunk in it. Also, if there was anything decaying in the puddle, it is very likely that you were smelling that, and not the skunk. Mud can get pretty rank sometimes.

This was definitely skunk smell. Also, the sun (or maybe driving at highway speed? wind?) really did seem to take care of it quite handily. Surprises all around!

I'm so happy to see other people like the smell of skunks. I've been supressing these feelings for so long and today i've found out it is OKAY! Thank you chuck norris.
