One of those small water bottles made for kids could be concealed in your hand.

Spitting is for men who are of low character, is my feeling on this.
It's a short run, true, but that doesn't make the problem any less annoying.
I still don't know about water bottles.

What about those sports gel things?
www.trisports.com/gels.html
I know nothing about them but I've seen them in stores. Some come in tiny little packets that could fit in a pocket. That is, if you have pockets... When the throat starts closing you could have a bit? Wets things down without the hassle of a water bottle? Maybe?
Run Jon, run!

Try one of those travel size nalgene squirt bottles that hold a few ounces and give yourself a shot whenever you need one. It should fit in a pocket.

What about those breath-mint strip thingees that dissolve on your tongue?
They should help produce saliva and then dissolve, avoiding the choking hazard.
Also, minty-fresh breath = everyone wins!

I'd go with spit, but I don't have this problem, sorry.

The gels are to give you an energy boost in the middle of a long run. And they often taste bad. I don't think that's what you're looking for here.
Do you think there are other problems that could be leading to your dry throat? Like, are you totally out of breath for most of your run, so you breathe longer, deeper and faster, causing your throat to dry? Could this maybe go away once you get into better shape?
Or if it is a breathing issue, could you possibly have asthma? I learned that I did once I got back into running and when I got the proper medications, my breathing (and as a result my running) was exponentially better.

I think you're just not drinking enough before you run, dogg. Are you going first thing in the morning? One is typically short on water weight in general first thing in the morning (part of the reason one weighs less). Pound a bottle of water before you go.
Also, breathe in through your nose if you can handle the exhaust fumes.

The amount of water I drink during the day is ridiculous, but I'll admit to not drinking a lot right when I wake up.
We'll see what happens when I'm in better shape!

In my experience, those sports gel things have a consistency unnervingly similar to semen.
Bring a water bottle! It doesn't matter that you're not running very far, you'll have water. Also people (ladies?) seeing you running with a water bottle will probably assume that your run is longer than it actually is, and will immediately be drawn to your rugged athleticism.

Water bottle. I don't care how long the run is, you're running and there isn't a loan shark or a rabid dog chasing you so you're one up on me. Bring the water and to hell with the people that might be judgin'. Plus, if they're tracking your running distance, they obviously don't have lives and should not be considered in this decision.
