Gravatar You can buy the parts at REI and make one yourself.

Gravatar I think they are called "web Belts" (army surplus store fare) which make them sound like Spiderman's kit but this is the first result that I saw fitting:

Gravatar Oh, with the "open faced buckle" maybe. If that fails, use rope. Bring back hobo fashion!

Gravatar You may have to do one of the following, should your belt-hunt be fruitless:

- Buy new pants
- Gain a slight amount of weight
- Lose a slight amount of weight
- Use a rope like a sailor
- Not wear pants

Gravatar The "open faced buckle" does not seem to be quite what I had in mind, unfortunately.

Sonia: really? Huh.

Gravatar Yeah, if you go to the store. They have the belt part sold by the foot in the department for climbing. It's amazing they have the weirdest colors and it's much higher quality than the stuff they sell in fabric stores. The belt buckles are sold in the little plastic accessories department (somewhere nearby).

If you want a metal belt buckle, you can get them at Discount Fabrics or Mendel's on upper Haight.

Gravatar I'm actually a fan of the rejected style in your excellent drawings. But regardless, I have another belt I wear that has a latch that looks sort of like this one (but less half-circle and more rectangles with rounded corners).

I got mine at the Gap for pretty cheap, but I've recently seen them at H&M too. Check it out.

Gravatar I am merely thinking aloud here, but: ordinary belt+awl = make your own custom hole = quality.

This is an equation established with math.

Gravatar Compared with the near-infinite flexibility of a belt that requires no holes, however, it is a poor solution indeed!

Adam, someone else recommended a D-ring belt to me, and while those are OK, I really just want one of those toothy ones. It seems like the most convenient one.

This entire thing would be solved if skate shops didn't appear to exclusively stock ridiculous bullshit.

Gravatar Huh, I owned a belt pretty exactly to your specifications for years that I picked up at Exit (recently-shut down local emporium for overpriced skater tat) for about £6. this is about the closest I could find to your requirements but it's probably not right, what with the logo and the patterning on the fabric. Most of what the internet has to offer seems to be of the rejected-buckle-design persuasion.

Perhaps worth mentioning is that said rejected buckle design, whilst pretty similar in grippiness to the toothed design, does seem to have a higher tendency to fail on you. The bolt in the centre of the buckles on these models has sheared on me more than once.

Gravatar I'm finding the bolt to be kind of inconvenient from an "undoing the belt" standpoint; I get the feeling that if it were to be fastened tightly enough, it might be a serious nuisance to loosen, which is suboptimal.

Gravatar So, kinda sketchy site in terms of web design, but they have what you're describing: http://www.webbelts.net/. If you click the link at the top to view the buckle styles, they describe the one you want as "silver color clasp type" (picture of the buckle open: http://www.webbelts.net/WEB_BELT...ES/IMAG013.JPG) .

Gravatar I think that this is actually the belt for you.

It's a bit pricey, but the buckle is not only a buckle, but also a removable dagger, ya know, for making more holes in your belt (or peoples' faces).
